We went to WDW last year and had the BBB done at Downtown Disney, not the castle. My daughter had fun and the fairy godmother that did her hair in the princess style did a most excellent job! However, the magic of having it done sort of inside the castle was really enchanting. It just looked very magical:wizard: The fairy godmothers were wonderful and her experience was lovely there. My daughter opted for the Pop Princess style this time around and it was sooooooo cute! I think there is one more style that my daughter hasn't had done yet out of the 3 and next time when we returned in 2010, she wants to go again and get it done. It really is a wonderful experience for anyone contemplating on taking their daughter there. Also, the little boys were getting their hair spiked with colored gel and had little Mickey confetti in them and were given a sword and shield. I will be posting pics very soon. We just returned this past Saturday.

Great to hear you had an enjoyable experience. I can't wait to take my daughter when we go in September. I was wondering if they have little change rooms with the child's name on it for the full package people. They have that in WDW so I wonder if they have that at DL.

Also, EmmersIsTheMommy, according to another thread "The Knight Package (for boys) includes a hairstyle with colored gel and a shield and sword — $12.95"

The last page has some pictures and a long discussion on one lady's experience with her son at the BBB.

Thanks for the link!!!

That is SO COOL! I wonder if I can scrounge up 200 bucks for our trip. Not likely.

I don't know on the boy's cost for the hair and sword and armor because my son is 13 so it isn't something he would obviously be into, LOL as this was just for my daughter. As far as the dressing rooms go, I'm not sure on because my daughter is 11 and we couldn't do the BIG package like we did last year at WDW when she was 10. Because of her age, she isn't allowed to walk around the park in costume which was okay with her and I since she doesn't wear the costumes anymore. She wore a nice little dress and some sandals she had gotten last year when she did the full package with Ariel dress, sandals, accessories, etc. This year, she did the Pop Princess at Disneyland but she did buy a new pair of sandals that she LOVES from the BBB. I'll post some pics later of last year and this year. You won't regret the BBB at Disneyland because I liked it over the one in downtown Disney just because of where the one at Disneyland is located. I'm not sure what the experience was like at WDW at the castle if it is similar to the one at Disneyland. The one at Disneyland was just quaint and charming-LOVED IT:lovestruc

I'm sooo glad you had such a good experience there! Or rather, that your daughter had such a good experience. I love the BBB - it's so charming there. :)

Few questions?
Where is this? Is it at DTD? Where the old Libbylu was? Or are we talking about over at the Princess Phanfare?
Also, I didn't understand about your daughter not being able to dress up due to her age? Is that a park rule? Or a family rule?

No, it isn't in Downtown Disney. It is basically right after you walk thru the castle, kind of off the side like it is part of the castle kind of I guess you could say. It is cozy, cute and enchanting in decor/atmosphere. Very magical. No, it isn't a family rule. It is a Disneyland park rule. She is 11 and I guess the cutoff starts there in age as being allowed to wear princess costumes which my daughter nor I really cared about anyhow so we were fine with it. She wore a pretty normal black n pink dress with sandals and had the package where she had her hair, nails, makeup, with BBB sash and a cute little pink BBB bag with all her makeup, etc in it and she purchased another pair of sandals while there. She had BBB in Downtown Disney at WDW last year and she was 10 and did the BIG package where they did the portraits, etc and got I think it was Ariel's wedding dress complete package. I never checked into the age thing at WDW at their castle as far as age limitation on princess costumes in the park so I don't know if it is the same at WDW as it is at Disneyland. Not sure:confused3 Anyhow, we had a WONDERFUL experience and not doing the princess costume didn't put a damper on our experience whatsoever. Honestly, I don't think it would be too comfortable wearing the costumes all over the parks anyhow. That is why we chose the Downtown Disney location at WDW on our last day when we didn't do the parks at all. That way, our daughter wasn't trying to ride rides in a costume, etc. We just shopped and went out to eat in Downtown Disney. Because of our close proximity to Disneyland as we stayed at the Grand Californian, daughter opted to change into a skirt and tee instead of wearing her dress for the rest of the day after she had her makeover at Disneyland. Worked out fine :)

I wish I could take my sister to BBB next week, seeing the pics posted on here and some videos on youtube, it looked so special. However, I got laid of in January and my family wouldn't even be coming down to the Land if it wasn't for the fact I'm starting a new job wayyyy across the country in Aug. It's probably the last time we'll see each other for at least a year, plus the husband and I have a chance to say goodbye to Disney after a year of being premium AP's. *cry*

I watched the BBB vids and decided I'd do my own "ghetto" BBB in our hotel room. I bought her the mid-level Cinderella dress at Wal-Mart for $20, got some make-up, glittery hair accesories, and face and body/hair glitter. Probably $35 all together. My Mom didn't tell her about any of it, so when we meet-up at the hotel the day before we go to the park, I'm going to present her with everything. That way I have time for a test run on her hairdo before the big princess breakfast our first day in the park. I'm not the girliest girl, so I'll need time to mess around. XD

Just thought I'd share my BBB alternative, maybe I'll post some pics of the finished product. :)

What a wonderful thing to do. :goodvibes This sounds like something my family would do. Let us know how it comes out.

It is a park rule that only kids 9 and under can dress up in costumes at the parks. Once they have an adult ticket (age 10) they can't wear a costume. (I believe the age limit is increased to 12 during halloween time, and the other exception is Mickey's Trick or Treat party at DCA where everyone of all ages can wear a costume).

Thanks for the info on the knight package. Sounds similar to what we had in WDW but witht he cool add on's of sword and shield. My ds and nephew loved it and I think we will go for it again!

:wizard:

Glad to hear reviews, as I plan on doing this w/ my 3-yr old when we go. I don't think we will do the full pkg though. I will buy her costume ahead of time.
