We're back from our first trip home to BLT and we can't say enough about it! The room was awesome (7618) and we could lay in bed and see the castle. We decorated our door with a blue Mickey head wreath that I made and hung some garland on the railing. There were tons of rooms with Christmas trees and lights as well.

The studio was big enough for our family of 4. My 2 little ones were in PNPs. We put our oldest in the little bumpout near the bathroom/connecting room door and our LO slept along the couch.

The view was amazing and the walkway to the CR was so nice. We bought mugs for refills and really enjoyed the quick walk to CR for hot chocolate. I'm so happy that we will be that close to the MK since our boys are little and really enjoyed that park the most. We're going back this summer and DH has already started counting down. Time to change my banner. First trip home: AWESOME! :cloud9:

Hi ShootingStarMom2,
Thank you for sharing about your trip. Glad to hear you had a great time. BLT is a wonderful resort. Now to start counting the days until your next trip home!! :woohoo:

I, too, agree. We went at Thanksgiving this past year and are planning a couple trips this upcoming year, one of which is the week after Thanksgiving. We only had one dinky little strand of lights that we put on our balcony last time so this next time we plan on bringing better lights and a tree or something like that. This will be fun!

We're looking forward to our MK View in September. Your comment about lying in bed, seeing the castle in the AM is getting me more excited! Our DD will be almost 2.5 years old then... can't wait to see her reaction to the view!
She loved hanging out with Daddy in the AM last month at BCV.(Epcot view)

Thanks for the great info. I stayed at the Contemporary in September and I couldn't agree with you more about the location, it is AMAZING. The ability to walk to and from MK was such a luxury. Glad you had a great trip.

We were at BLT over New Years, and loved it. What a great resort, and location. The monorails are just so cool to watch.

Aaaaah.....I cannot wait to stay at BLT. The CR is one of our favorite resorts because it was the first one our family stayed in back in '93. We're looking forward to our trip to VWL in Nov. 2010 but maybe we'll sneak a quick trip in a little sooner. :thumbsup2

Yes, it was an awesome view. Our DS is 26m so he just picked up the words house and home. I explained that Cinderella lived at the MK in the castle and from then on he would shout "her house" or "her home" when we looked out the window. He loved seeing the fireworks from the balcony. We only did that one night because I love seeing them right in front of the castle instead.

We had dinner with the entire family (18) at O'hana around 630 and by the time we were done it was around 9. We took the monorail back to the CR and walked to my DMILs room (7630). Their view was also very nice and we could watch the people coming across the walkway. It was a 2br so we all used the kitchen to cook breakfast and make snacks. It was like our own little restaurant and hangout.

We decided to take the kids to MK for the fireworks so we bundled up and got a spot right by Mickey and Walt. DS was trying to blow out the fireworks and our 7m old was just staring in surprise. He didn't cry or jump at all, he just smiled. I was so happy he liked them. Once they were over, we headed to the exit and watched a ton of people running to the boats and monorail ramps. It was the best feeling to know that in just about 5 minutes we would be home! We stopped for a hot chocolate and snack and headed back to our room. MK was open until 3am so we kept the shades open and watched the castle changing colors for a while after the kids went to bed.

I can't wait to go back this summer! We'll have a 1br then so we can spread out a little more. But to be honest, the studio was plenty big for us. We didn't open the couch because DS was happy to sleep in a PNP. We just pushed the PNP into the kitchen when we were on our way out of the room.

I hope you have a great time at BLT!

Precious photo!

Glad your view was great. My friend is there now in a MK view studio and she is actually quite upset. In the first studio they gave her the MK view consisted of a view of the monorail tracks. They moved her to a new room but in order to see the magic kingdom, you must go out on the balcony. I don't remember all the details but apparently there are very few studios that allow you to look directly at the MK, even those considered a Magic Kingdom view.

I agree BLT is great. We do not spend that much time in the room, but the short walk to the MK makes all the difference.

However, when we bought BLT, our guide told us the MK view rooms were designed so that no matter where you were in the room, if you could look out the window you would be able to see the castle. Given the shape of the building that is obviously not actually the case. It appears rooms numbered XX18 might have a view of the castle even from the entry to the room, but other rooms classified as MK views (especially the XX30 room numbers) would require you to be on (or at least very close to) the balcony to see the castle. That does not even consider the complaints people have expressed about MK view rooms on lower floors.

When we walked back to BLT from the MK, and looked at the center section of BLT (which contains all the MK view rooms), the north elevator area (between rooms XX16 and XX14) appeared to be more in line with the MK than the rooms at the far south end of the center section (the rooms numbered XX30).

Not a complaint, just my observation. However, others might want to consider it when deciding if it is worth the extra points for a MK view room.

I totally agree and am THRILLED to own @ BLT. Here are a few pics from our room - 7820

I have a 1BR MK view that I booked today for December '10. Are 2BR's located on certain floors and 1BR's and Studios on others or are they all intermixed!

They are mixed. My DMILs room 7630 was a 2br and our room 7618 was a studio.

The view from 7630 was really nice even if you couldn't see the MK from every angle. When we sat down to watch TV you could see MK out the windows. A great view of the CR and the bridge and we pulled our chairs to the window to see the fireworks.

We were so happy to have the other room to hang out in and use the kitchen in the morning to make pancakes. Mickey Mouse, of course! DMIL brought the shake and pour kind and we added chocolate chips. DH is already making a list of things to bring down/order to make our stay a little less "chicken finger and fries?". :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Great photos of tremendous views. Was this a one bedroom? We're looking for a two bedroom lock-off.

Ours was a 1br. Edited to add that the view of the tennis court and Bay Lake required a bit of a lean over the balcony to see ;)

:goodvibes We just got back from our first visit to BLT and I have to say, it was truly awesome. We had the perfect lakeview room, #7821. We went up to the Top of the World lounge at least three times and loved the convenience of walking to the Magic Kingdom. Count us among the many happy BLT owners!:goodvibes
