Awhile ago, I had asked if anyone used this and a few people asked me to post our experiences with it once we tried it. We have had it for about 3 months now and we love it. For those who don't know, Vonage is a company that offers your phone service through your high speed internet connection. So here are the pros and cons...
PROS -
- Having local, long distance (even to Canada), caller id, call waiting, voice mail, call forwarding for $34.99 a month. Before Vonage we were paying $62 for our local and $60 or more for long distance. We are saving about $100 a month.
- Being able to check my voicemail over the internet
CONS -
- If my cable modem is interrupted, my phone doesn't work (obviously). That is the only downside and it has happened twice in 3 months. In these cases though, they will transfer all incoming calls to your cell phone so you can still receive them.
-----------
So that is what we have experienced so far and we love it. I will never go back to the phone company and pay out the wazoo. We highly recommend it!
