For you experienced cruisers - I could really use some help!! We are going on the Magic 01-25-03 7-day Eastern cruise.

First off - we are flying into Orlando on 1/24 and staying at an airport hotel. We booked transfers through DCL - I know we are supposed to meet them at baggage claim - but will it be difficult to find them? I heard something about Royal Blue jackets - is this correct?

Hairdryers - I saw a picture on one of the sites of the hairdryers. Do they work well or am I better off to pack my own?

This is more a travel related question than DCL - I travel everywhere with a fan. I can't sleep without it and used to pack it in my checked baggage. With the new security measures is it going to be easier to pack it in my carryon or in my checked luggage??

Also - we are not travelling with children - should we bring our video camera in addition to our still camera? Is it worth it if we won't be filming kids or anything?? We just can't make a decision on this.

TIA for your help!

I will tell you to bring an extension cord (regular kind) and your own hairdryer. The ones on the ship are wimpy and useless for styling hair. I think you have to plug it in near the TV area, but at least it'll be a good hair dryer. I could never find an extra outlet, but I learned on here to try behind the TV!! As far as the fan, I don't know about getting it through security but you'll need the extension cord for that too.

I saw several adults sans kids with video cameras. They were actually walking around the ship and "narrating" stuff...and seemed to enjoy that!

have a wonderful time!

-On the morning of the cruises, there tons of cast memebers in the terminal to help cruise passengers find the busses. We always stay at the Hyatt and check in for the buses right in the lobby. Yes, they are wearing royal blue blazers. You'll recognize them easily.

-I do not use a hairdryer. My wife makes do with the one in the room, but says it is not very powerful. She has short hair so it's not that big a deal. Many people do bring their own, however.

-Having no personal experience with this one, I'd say pack the fan in your checked baggage. It may cause your bag to be searched, but that probably happens without you having to be there. It just seems to me that it would be a pain to carry around, and it would be sure to lead to your carry-on being searched at every checkpoint.

-I've been on many cruises but have never taken (or missed having) a video camera. I guess it depends on how much you'd use it, or how often you use it on other vacations. There are often a few people on board with video cameras, but it never seems like very many to me.
