We keep flopping around - another pre-trip question - Universal Studios?

I know there is a separate board, but it is not busy at all.

We are considering getting the VIP tour at Universal Studios. Has anyone gotten it? Or the Front of the Line pass?

The VIP tour looks neato, as you go to all different places, get front of the line passes during the tour, and after the tour get UNLIMITED front of the line passes for rides. Plus, breakfast (danishes & coffee/juice) and lunch (buffet) is included. Price is $248/pp.

Front of the Line passes are $118/pp.

We were going to get the S. Cal Citypass, but it does not seem to be available yet, and I am not sure how the VIP or FOTL pass works when you already have a ticket.

We are going the 18th-22nd of Feb - Presidents Day week.

And were planning on doing Disney on Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday, and Universal Studios on Tuesday.

We have done the VIP 3 times in the last 10 years, looks like the price went up. You get to go where others can not. Lunch is excellent, they always have water bottles. They do not discount if you already have a ticket, I asked. GREAT EXPERIENCE Have fun.

We did the VIP pass for the Orlando Universal Studios and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Being able to bypass most of the lines and having a private tour guide was great.

We have not been to the California one, but will be there next week and booked the VIP there as well.

I used to work for the park and although I can't confirm what exactly is still included or whether or not it matters if you purchase the city pass (I suspect you will lose out on the tickets if purchased separately), I do think that the tour is a good deal and people seem to really have a great time. The FOTL is only important on busy days though. If you are going during the off season, I would weigh how important the backlot tour is vs the FOTL component. In my mind, the backlot, private part of the tour is where the value is, because it's special and unique. During a busy day, the FOTL passes will add to the value of the package, but on a slow day, that really isn't a perk.

Another suggestion for a great behind the scenes tour for a lot less, is the tour at the Warner Brother's lot. I've done it twice and it's a lot of fun and done in small groups. It really feels like you are getting a private, insiders look at a studio.

Have a great trip.

We kept pondering and pondering all day, and finally decided that although it would be a cool thing, the price is just killer.

To do the VIP thing, would be more than our 3 day park-hopper tickets (sale for $220pp), PLUS we would still need to pay for transportation to get there.

If it is busy, we will do FOTL passes for $50 each though. I doubt it will be too crazy on a Tuesday (the 19th) in February though.

Thanks for the info though. I hate teeter-tottering while planning stuff for vacation. I am just about the most indecisive person.

My DH and I did the VIP tour and really enjoyed it. The lunch was amazing, as was the tour and the seating for the different shows.
