Switching our car insurance.. and not to Geico. We just switched from Progressive to E-insurance and are now paying $80 less a month That is a huge savings, I would recommend people check it out.

Please be careful! We live in Louisiana and after Hurricanes Katrina & Rita, most people are moving their insurance to companies that a local office and staff. Most are still not satisfied with the claim service and they are upset because they are calling a service line with someone on the other line being 1000 miles away. Most of them are now saying the savings is now not worth the hassle they are going through for good customer service.

2. Are they licensed in Virginia?

3. Where is their main office physically located?

Question 1 is for research and possible future consideration. Questions 2 and 3 are ones you should have asked beforehand.

That's great! My car insurance is with State Farm. Since I only pay $50 a month to cover my car (full coverage to boot!), I doubt anyone could beat it. Even if they could, I wouldn't switch anyway, SF service has been great to me over the years!

There URL is esurance.com, yes they are licensed in Virginia and there main headquaters are in California. They do have regional offices in Michigan, Florida and New York. There is no local office which could be a downfall possibly since there is no face to face communication, unless a file is claimed and then a representative is sent to you. So far they have been wonderful with answering all our questions and ensuring that we have the correct coverage.

That is wonderful!!!! State Farm was my first insurance provider and I paid around the same monthly. Then I got my first speeding ticket, I know horrible, and they dropped me. Now I pay about $55 a month, it is my DH whose driving record is horrible and makes our insurance so much higher.

I agree 100% with this poster. I work for an insurance company that has a lot of local offices, and we heard the same thing throughout the hurricanes. Many of our claims adjusters had insureds from other companies coming to them for help, and promising to switch over, because we were the only company with an actual human presence to help people. Reading the stories in our company newsletter was very heartwarming, and made me proud to work for a company that considers customer service more important than low prices.

You never realize how important insurance is, until you actually need it.

I work for an insurance company too, and I just recently switched because of my employee discount. I have gotten quotes from them before, but they weren't lower than other companies. But now that I've been working there more than 5 years, I get a bigger discount;and by paying by payroll deduction, I get another discount, so it's now much cheaper than what I had with Progressive. I work in the life insurance part of the company, but I have friends who work in auto & home, so I know who to go to if I ever have a claim!

Dh works for Nationwide and it is expensive but they pay our bills so we purchase the insurance. I know they do not write in New Orleans and they are leaving Florida.
