We signed our contract today!!!! I am so excited to make my planning more official, since I have been reading everyone's threads and looking at all of the amazing pictures, I have to admit I am already planning to "borrow" a few of your ideas.

The oddest thing about my wedding planning is the fact that my "groom" hasn't technically proposed yet. (Don't worry, he knows we are getting married). I don't know if anyone else has done this, but my family had already planned a family trip to WDW in October 2009, so he suggested "why don't we just get married while we are down there". Before you know it he's writing a check and we're signing a contract. ---Whoops we forgot to get engaged first.... I think I'm bringing back the old custom of being "betrothed". He has promised to propose before the actual wedding-LOL.

I just wanted to say hi to everyone on the Disney Weddings and Honeymoons Forum! You have helped me feel much more competent in beginning to plan my own Disney Wedding.

Nothing wrong with that! Congratulations on your betrothal and wedding planing!

Your not the only one. My now husband proposed the night before I left for Disney with my mom for our planning trip. We had talked about when we were going to get married, but weren't actually engaged yet. I told him I'd like to be engaged before actually going to plan, so of course it didn't happen until the night before! He likes to procrastinate.

Thanks for the welcomes !

(I can't believe I'm not the only one!) :upsidedow

Howdy! I'm getting married on the 12th of October at SBP!! I think it's fine that he hasn't asked you to marry him yet - however having said that - make sure he does it before the 8th!! :rotfl:

We'll probably see you in the parks - we go down on the 8th and will be there until the 20th. :thumbsup2

I'm in the same boat! Not "officially" engaged yet, although we have our DCL wedding and WDW honeymoon booked already! We've been to 2 local bridal shows together, including one this past weekend where I believe I saw THE DRESS! We have my ring in layaway (the setting) but still have to find a diamond for it... and bands... but he hasn't actually "proposed" yet and I keep telling him not to be so sure that I'll say yes... :snooty: ;) :rotfl2:

Nope you're not alone. :wave2:
We're not engaged yet either but we are planning an October wedding as well.
I told him we need to be engaged before I can send out the invites lol
Half of our families already think we are engaged anyway.
I like that you are calling it a betrothal, I may borrow that :)

Just to update everyone- I am now officially engaged as of yesterday! It was very sweet and my ring is amazing! I can't wait to show you guy as soon as I get home! Happy Valentines Day!

Congratulations!!

So, what's next? The Honeymoon, followed by the wedding? :rotfl:

Can't wait to see your ring!

I'm home from Baltimore and couldn't wait to get online and tell you all about it (since you guys were the only ones I could talk to about my wedding planning)

So here is our engagement story. When Rashad and I first started dating he lived in Baltimore and I lived in PA. So I went to visit him a lot and we always went to the same place in Inner Harbor and just sat and talked and relaxed. (Here are some silly ones of us in "our spot"... apparently we wear a lot of hats in "our spot")

Well we grabbed some food on Saturday (Valentine's Day) and went to "our spot" and found out it was FREEZING and snowing! But we sat down anyway and Rashad hands me my valentine's present... a pretty box. When I opened it, I saw a beautiful aquamarine necklace. (it's hard to see- I'm looking for a better way to photograph it)

He told me to stand up so he could put the necklace on me and when I turned around I saw a beautiful matching engagement ring! After that everything was a blur... I think he asked me "will you marry me?" and I know I was crying and I'm pretty sure I said yes.

Here's the AMAZING ring

Here we are as the newly and officially engaged couple:

Being "Betrothed" was fun- but being engaged is already much more fun! Thanks for letting me share my story!

Yay! It's official!

It all looks beautiful!

Congratulations!!

Actually we kind of ARE having the honeymoon first! That's so funny I didn't even think of it. We are going down the 3rd through the 9th but not getting married until the 8th. That's hilarious:rotfl: :rotfl2:
