My husband just signed us up for AAA. Does it really offer you great discounts?

We are especially interested in Disney discounts?

Please tell me your experiences. TY, L

I'm not sure what this means??

I have been an AAA member for years. To be honest, the best thing about it to me is the peace of mind that comes with the roadside service. I've never used them for a Disney trip so I really don't know about discounts. Sorry.

I've used their hotel discounts in other cities. It's nice that many hotels have the AAA option on their websites. Most of the time they don't even ask to see the card, though. In Orlando, I had already gotten other discounts and didn't think to ask if AAA could be applied also. Their city guides and maps are great, and I agree that it is worth it for the roadside service, which has saved me several times from being stranded.

AAA has basically SAVED me when I was stranded on the road, twice since I have had a membership (about the last 10 years or so.) The roadside assistance is really the reason why I have it and I would never be without it.

I've have gotten some decent hotel discounts through AAA (not WDW though.)

The maps and tourbooks are great, too.

Generally, AAA will save you about 15% off the rack rates for Disney resorts. This can vary, depending on season and which hotel you are booking.

I like having AAA anyway, for the peace of mind while traveling, so the hotels discounts are just an added benefit :)

In the past 6 months, AAA has inflated a deflated tire for me roadside, and towed my car from my driveway to my mechanic when I couldn't get it started. Those 2 things alone have made it WELL worth the annual fee!!

I have used the AAA discount in different hotels, but never down in WDW.

Another GREAT benefit is you can go to the member's area of their website and print off your own trip-tiks. They are *so* much more detailed than the directions you get on mapquest. I love them.

Also, anyone who is an AAA member, have you ever flipped your membership card over and read it? Did you know AAA will post bail for you if you are arrested (with certain exceptions)? This cracked me up, I had no idea they had this benefit!!

I work for AAA in the road service department and he knew it so that is why he was trying to page me. :)

To answer your question Laura Jean, AAA does not make up the discounts for Disney, Disney does. I know here in FL the only thing that Disney will allow us to discount are the annual passes for the parks.

Of course the road service is well worth it!! You do get discounts on hotels and such too. Feel free to PM me if you have more questions or ask me here. I will help you as best as I can. :)

I have AAA for the emergency roadside assistance, which thankfully we have not needed (knock on wood) but I do travel frequently and more often than not I get the best hotel rates booking directly on hotel websites with a AAA rate (have to show your card on check in)

I have a AAA membership and I love it.

Chris' family have been longtime members. The roadside service helped Chris on a few occasions. I really LOVE their maps and the TripTik!

We have AAA and it paid for itself the first week! Remember, you can save on other services beside travel related items. LensCrafters gives a discount to AAA members and I saved over $125 on two sets of lenses and 35% on my eye exam. Additionally, I just saved well over $100 with Advantage Rent-A-Car on my upcoming trip to Denver. We saved money on hotels on our trip to WDW this past Feb, too. The roadside assistance is also a great peace of mind. I think you will be very happy with your membership!

just echoing other comments -- i've been an AAA member since 1995 and it's great! not only do i use it all the time for car rental and hotel discounts, but having it for piece of mind in case of car trouble is great. and as someone else mentioned - "free" maps and trip tiks are great! :)

we also have used it to get a discount on universal tickets.

Just the Lenscrafter discount ALONE (two eye exams and two pairs of glasses for my DSs) had AAA pay for itself.

I've been towed, locked my keys in the car (with it running) and even ran out of gas and had them bring me a gallon (while I was right across the street from a gas station, no less...but my kids were young, and it was a busy highway, so I wasn't going to chance it)

I love AAA, and highly recommend it.

Oh, yeah, and they sell Parkhopper passes as well as other theme park admissions for less. Then there's the 10% hotel discounts, and even a discount on Amtrak (we took the Autotrain down one year).

I used AAA for peace mind because of its road side assistence. I used for a lot other things to. But to answer your question you can get discoonts on hotels rooms at Disney. Also if look at AAA going places magize in the back it has a list of how much you get each season and what discounts on the pass you can get to.

I was reading all your comments and the newspaper that came with our subscription. They offer theme park discounts, long term insurance, short term insurance, medical insurange, auto insurance, buy a car hassle free, restaurant discounts and hotel and car discounts to name a few. They do offer free travelers cheques, travel discounts, luggage discounts and some other stuff, too.

This seems really great. Oh, and just this week, I had a flat on the way to work and DH had a blow-out tire on his truck today!

I guess it is well worth it.

Cool.
