We have to rebook - 1 cat 4A or 2 cat 5A? Both on 9th floor

So we have to make some changes - this is our first cruise and am looking for advise - would you book 1
cat 4A room 9108 for a family of 4 with 2 teen boys or would you get 2 cat 5A Rooms 9532 and 9534...its going to cost us about $800 more. Do you see any advantages/disadvantages based on location etc....

Are you planning on being in the room a lot?
I would save the money and go for 1 room. UNLESS it's important for you to be on starboard side.

Plus, I'm not sure how open that elevator lobby doorway is near the 5A rooms. We almost booked 9532 but I had concerns about traffic noise. We went with 9528 instead.

Advantage with 2 rooms is 2 bathrooms and more space - and less hating of bathroom with teen boys! The cabins are relatively big though and our family of five usually goes for just one 4A room but my oldest are 12 and the price difference for two rooms for us at this level of the ship is usually much greater than 800$. I think your choices are also on different sides of the ship- don't quote me on this but the two cabins u r looking at are on the starboard side and this affords u a view of castaway cay's main beach area. Some people really like that. Disadvantage of the two cabins is that it is a little less central to mid ship. I would probably do the two rooms myself if the price difference is acceptable to you. My husband would probably take the one cabin for the savings that could go to something else like excursions. Either choice will be fine though. Have fun!

Without a doubt, I would book the 2 cabins. We started cruising sailing in connecting cabins and I hate when we have to all be crammed into 1. We also have 2 teens and the two cabins are way worth the $800!

What ship are you sailing on and how many nights is the sailing? Do you spend time in the room or on the verandah or do you pretty much just sleep in the room?

If the $800 difference is not an issue, I would definitely go for the two category 5A rooms, personally. You will appreciate having the extra space and extra bathroom! I just stayed in an aft category 5A room with my sister and my parents had a mid ship category 5A room on the same sailing (Fantasy 10 night Southern Caribbean). We all enjoyed our room and found deck 9 to be a good location. It looks like you will be forward in those rooms. They get good reviews from what I can see.

The category 4A room you listed looks to have a sofa bed and bunk bed, not a Murphy bed, so that's something to keep in mind with the sleeping arrangements. I had 3 adults in a room on the Dream that did have a Murphy bed and we were very happy since it was pretty comfortable to sleep on (it was a VGT room so we didn't know what we would get when we booked). The room was a little tight with 3 women, especially when it came time for getting showered and ready for dinner. The room you're looking at is also aft, so it depends on what kind of location you like and potentially, what ship you are on. People have experienced vibrations in Fantasy aft cabins (we had that issue on our last cruise).

Can you get a verandah plus an inside room across the hall/nearby? That would be less expensive, put the teens in the interior cabin, and you still get the full value of 2 rooms (2 baths, space and privacy for parents vs teens, etc.).

This is my suggestion as well. We just came back from the Wonder and had a verandah with inside across the hall for our family of 4 (kids are 19 and 14, so adult size). Definitely the way to go. With two teen boys you have to consider it the same as 4 adults and that gets tight in one room. If no verandah/inside combination is available, I would personally pay the extra $800 in order to have two rooms.

I'm going to assume you saw my post in your other thread, but for the sake of information continuity, here is a copy and paste of my advice:

We were in 9112 and 9114 and it was fine. Very nice. But 9532 and 34 are starboard, which a lot of people prefer and those rooms are right across from the forward elevators. They're probably pretty nice. Just so you know, the laundry is across from 9500, so far enough away that it shouldn't bother you, but close enough to be convenient.

9108 sleeps 4, but doesn't have the murphy bed. It'll have a chair instead. 9532 and 34 both also sleep 4. If it were me, I'd spread out, because we like our space.

I'm the one on the other thread who asked what category and how old your teens are. I would consider a 4A and an inside 11A or B across the hall. That is what we are doing on our upcoming cruises. I'm not clear on the ages of your sons or if you want to be in connecting rooms or not. If you do not care that your rooms do not actually connect but instead are across the hall I would go for the 4A and 11A or 11B across the hall to save money.
