I have a neighbor up the street who usually has pet rats. She said they are super smart and friendlier than other rodent types.

we are having so much fun withthem -- they are so social -- they want to be out of the cage as much as possible~~
The lady at the pet store said they will eat anything but onions (hurts their bellies)
I have been reading up on them and trying differnt foods with them. I got the rat-mix food at the pet store and bought some parrot mix with all different seads in it (they love that)
so far they love:
mac and cheese,
cheerios,
cheese,
apple sauce
sunflower seeds,
grapes (will eat half of it) ~~
cooked and uncooked pasta (especially the tricolored ones),
waffles
whole peanuts
bread
ricecakes from stew leonards


dont like watermellon ~~

what have you been feeding your guys, do you ever give them a bath, what do you use for litter in their cages? I can use any helpful hints ~~ we are new to this

and on a crafting note ~~ are there any rats on the cricut carts?

Ours *loved* strawberries, cherrios, pumpkin seeds were a bit hit, a little bit of parmesan as a treat.

We use news paper to line the cage and rip strips of newspaper for her to "nest" with. We will be switching over to a cotton like bedding for her now because she is getting pressure sores on her little feet (she is very old for a rat at almost 3 years old).

They are very social - Peanut really misses her sister. She still likes to nuzzle on Sarah's shoulder. But we take her out less now because it stresses her out.

I've never given them a bath - They would have probably like it.
