Got back on Thursday night from an amazing trip. The weather was dry and warmish, the crowds were low and the whole experience was trully magical.
We stayed in the Castle Club in the DLH and like many other people have said it was worth every extra penny and I really do not think that I could not stay anywhere else.
I managed to meet up with Cass on three occasions, it was really nice to meet her and her daughter. I hope that her flight back to Canada was alright.
Just a few quick comments about our stay......
The VIP Fastpasses for CC guests are not included in your pack if you check-in on the Eurostar. This means that if you want the passes you will need to go the the hotel before you enter the park. This is not really a hardship due to the location of the hotel and it was actually quite nice to sit in the CC lounge and have a coffee before entering the park.
To get to the CC reception for the first time you have to go to the lifts located on the right just along from "Gallerie Mickey". Here you will find a Victorian style telephone which you use to contact the CC Reception, who send down the lift.
The rooms are very similar to the standard rooms though they are in the main section of the hotel and there is a DVD player in the rooms.
We had booked two rooms and were given a suite of rooms, which meant we had one main door from the corridor into a small entrance hall with the doors to our rooms off this. This meant the although we could close our room doors it was also fine to leave them open so the my DD and her friend could go freely between the rooms.
The CC lounge, like the main hotel, gets very busy for breakfast at about 9.00am so it may be advisable to eat earlier/later. We found the best thing to do was to get up early and go into the park for 8.00am (Extra Magic Hours) and spend about an hour and a half in the park and then return for breakfast at about 9.30am. It is also very busy about 4.30pm for afternoon tea, so again go either for the start of tea at 4.00pm or later, the tea finishes at 5.30pm.
The afternoon tea, in the CC lounge, is mostly pastries and cakes, though we did also have some little canapes as well, including smoked salmon & caviar and pickled herrings wrapped around olives.
With regards to the EMH we always headed straight to Discoveryland, where Buzz, Orbitron and Space Mountain were open. There were no queues and we managed to ride Buzz and Obitron twice in a row. In fact on one morning we were the first and only guests on Buzz and Orbitron for about 20 minutes. We then headed to Fantasyland where we would ride Pinnocchio, the Carousel and the Teacups. (Peter Pan and Dumbo were also open).
Crush's coater is great fun, but, as already mentioned several times i other threads, the queues can get very long, very quickly. The best time to ride is first thing in the morning, queues start forming about 9.45am, or at about 4.00pm when alot of people have either returned to the main park to watch the parade or are watching the Stunt show in the studio.
Also the queues to see Santa Claus in Woody's Round-Up Village can get very long, so if you want to see him, head there straight away. He makes his first appearance at 10.30am but queues start at 10.00am. We found the easiest way to get there was using the Railroad as the station is right next to the Santa Village.
I hope that those of you due to visit DLP have great trip as well......
