We have booked our first cruise!! Question about swim vests

I am so excited!! First Disney cruise and I can't wait!! We opted for the 4 day Wonder sailing January 4th. I will be reading and rereading all of the great information here from now until January.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned are swimming vests for children. My daughter is 5 and she can hold her breath under water but I would not consider her a "swimmer". When we go to the pools/beach she wears a swim vest unless I am in the pool with her. She is fearless of the water but she does need that little extra help right now. Do they rent these on the ship for use in the swimming pool/shore excursions or should I bring ours with us?

She wont need it in the Mickey pool since it will probably hit her on the thigh or waist if she is small for her age. You could take them for the beaches if you would feel comfortable though. I didn't see them anywhere available for rent.

We packed our 3 year old's vest and even used it in the Mickey pool....a little peace of mind for this over protective mom.

HA HA HA.... I am one of those overprotective Moms too. In fact when my DH and I first started talking about going on a Disney Cruise he said he couldn't believe I was considering a cruise with my DD. He said I wouldn't be able to relax for fear she would fall overboard. What he doesn't know is that I had already read the thread on this exact thing!

DS is turning 6 but hasn't mastered swimming yet--will be taking another set of lessons June 21-July 1 (day before we leave!) but probably won't be "proficient". He has a life jacket I put him in for the city pool and I used it last year on CC and at Blue Lagoon; I plan on using it in Cozumel but will use Capt. Marvins' life jackets for the stingray thing.
You will definately need one in the Goofy pool if you go there, it is 4 feet deep with kids jumping in all over the place. Smaller kids need all the help they can get!
