When we go to DLRP we have a spare day... We get two days in the park and then a spare. Robert wants to, ideally, do something non-Disney that day. I would have bought another set of park tickets and had an easy day to do Disney shopping, have a long, relaxed meal somewhere, etc..... Robert, however, isn't keen as he thinks this would be a wasted day. We don't fancy doing the bus company day in Paris again as we found this the worst day of the trip last time- Paris has left us feeling cold every time we've been- And we've racked up a few trips between us! Robert fancies Val d' Europe, but I'm not that bothered for just going to shops as theres plenty of them at home!

Does anyone have any other ideas for things we could do?? He's being very stubborn on this!!!

Maybe it's just us but we went to Val d'Europe on our 1st visit to DLRP and we didn't rate it much at all. Looked around the shops a bit (nothing that interested us), ended up in the Sealife centre (what a waste of money for half an hour or so! It was that small and rubbish lol) and we spent the most time in that huge supermarket - can't remember what it's called now, simply because we were already there and felt that we better spend a bit longer mooching around. Should've just gone straight back to the parks.

Other than that, I can't help re: ideas, I'm afraid lol.

He is being very stubborn and saying he wants to go to Val d'Europe... But there isn't anything else he wants to do!!

It's errupted into a row- Why are men so damn AWKWARD?!?!?!

Bob xoxoxox

Men !!! Grr!

Maybe just go along with him and hopefully he'll get bored after an hour or so and then you guys can go back to the parks?! We were only there for about 3.5-4 hrs I think (including an hour for lunch - which was really good though. We ate a fish restaurant - can't remember the name now).

We went to Val d'Europe on our last visit in May and I can only say its an hour of my life I'm never gonna get back and all I could think was 'I could be at the parks' .

If he's anything like my DH(affectionately nicknamed MOG - moaning old git:thumbsup2 ) he'll soon get bored especially if you show an interest in something expensive such as a new handbag - works everytime with my DH!!:rotfl:

Wow, I find it odd that there is absolutely nothing in all of Paris that could suit yours and Robert's fancy!

What about checking out the Broadway Production of the Lion King? (Roi Lion). Even if you don't speak French, the music and costumes should be amazing!

Have you ever been to Versailles? Perhaps wandering a bit outside of Paris might be fun?

I'll 2nd that suggestion. We spent an afternoon at Versailles on our last trip. The crowds for the palace were mad, so we just visited the gardens (very cheap!).

Flowers, music, epic fountains, a boating pond, and gorgeous ice cream and glasses of champagne available from the food kiosks!

An absolute must do.

:confused3 I wish I knew why. I've been a few times, and I've just never really enjoyed it. He's also been two or three times and never enjoyed himself. For me I think it's because I'm not used to cities, but with him he is just a MOG (To steal a phrase from Pinkradleygirl!).......

Might look into some of these suggestions..... Versailles does look stunning. Can you get there on the train?

I would have loved to have gone to see the Lido in the evening in Paris, but Robert is very anti- using the public transport at that time of night..... Sometimes I could murder that man!! I love him dearly, but he is very awkward!!!! The broadway Lion King might be another idea though.... :goodvibes

We've had the option of a 'spare' day a couple of times but have always ended up going to the parks.

We just can't quite cope with the idea of being so near and yet so far - if you have an opportunity to be at DLP, you should take it, is our belief.

It would seriously upset me (and Mr EK) to be there and not there, iyswim. We've never bothered with Val d'Europe - there's shops at home, thanks - and sealife centres make me cry so we don't go there either. Cant' really think of much else to do on or near-site, so unless we take up golf there's not a lot of option.

We generally go a day early to Paris and spend an afternoon and evening there in advance of going out to DLP so perhaps this is why we feel we've got our money's worth and don't need to go back. Plus we have been to Paris many many times and spent a full week there after our honeymoon (at DLP!) so we do know it rather well and have 'done' much of it many times over.

However, that's just us, and that isn't helping really.

Versailles is lovely, worth a trip, its about as far out to the other side of Paris as DLP is from the centre so a longish journey to get there/back.

I hate hate hate organised tours - perhaps you would love Paris better if you could do it at your own steam and make your own choices? Just go in on the tube and have a bimble around, river trip, walk round the latin quarter, have nice long lunch somewhere? Don't flog round trying to see major sights, just amble and see where it takes you. Lovely gardens at Luxembourg, or explore the two islands in detail, or go to Place du Tertre and people watch, go to Sacre Coeur and pretend to be in Moulin Rouge....

Could you give up an hour of park time one night to head out to VdE and see if you think its worth a longer visit? He might go off the idea once he's seen it. Shops are shops, after all, and you'll end up spending money you didn't mean or need to spend just to feel like you've justified yourself...!!

good luck!

We've done guided tours and we've done it under our own steam, but it just doesn't appeal as a city. I feel bad about it because everyone else raves about it.....

Well that's ok - there's no law that says you have to love it!

If you don't like it then you don't like it, that's entirely up to you, and entirely fine. I don't like Amsterdam and always feel a bit defensive when other people rave about it and tell me how sad I am for not liking it.

I am a bit puzzled by why Rob doesn't want to spend the 'spare' day in the parks. This makes no logical sense - you don't like Paris much, so there's no point trying to spend the day there - there's not much else to do, VdE possibly but its not exactly a huge draw is it.

Why does he think the day will be wasted? How can a day at DLP be a wasted day?

Illogical, captain!

Lol- I know what you mean. His problem is that he thinks it would be a total Disney overload.... His attention span for things like that is pretty bad.....!! He likes to vary things a bit.....

Sadly, we're joined at the hip so that won't happen in a hurry. I might just give in and then make him grovel when I'm proved right (As always!!)....!
