DD just ran in from the kitchen and said the dog had wee'd on the floor!
On investigating the pool of water we realised it wasn't dog wee but clean water coming from under the sink
Our mains stop tap is leaking, and it looks like it's been leaking for quite a while. It was panic stations then - what do you do at 10pm on a Saturday evening with a leaky stop tap!!!!
First thought was to ring an emergency plumber - so out came the Yellow Pages. Trouble is they all sound dodgy! We called one that looked OK with local water board approvals etc. and they wanted £88 an hour
Then I remembered we had a telephone help line with our house insurance, so we tried that and they are getting a plumber to us in the morning. Thankfully the leak is only a drip (at the moment!).
