We have a large group sailing- Does Disney give group Rates/discounts?

We've done a Disney cruise 2 years ago and now our family and dh's very large family are all considering a Christmas time cruise for 2009. Can we get a group rate or group discount? Right now there are 3 staterooms for sure and possibly another 4 or 5 if they give discounts.

Can anyone explain how their discounts work? Is it for # of people or # of staterooms? Any info appreciated. Thanks!

to the best of my knowledge DCL does not give any sort of group discounts.

I would talk to a TA that specializes in DCL.

We booked both our cruises through Dreams Unlimited. They book 'group space' and sell it onto individual families. Both our bookings have been group space, even though we are a family of 4 with just one cabin. Compared to the regular DCL rate at the time we booked, we got a great deal. However I don't know if they just held group space at the lowest tier/pricing rate or if you can get a group discount.

Some travel agencies that do a lot of business with Disney Cruise Line are able to hold "group blocks" at the lowest available price offered for that sailing. If you choose one of the group block sailings organized by that agency, you can often save a bunch of money. (You don't have to buy more than one stateroom and you don't have to participate in any group activities -- you simply get the benefit of the agency's buying power.)

i did a group cruise and after my cruise disney sent me a check for 700 dollars since i was the trip leader i think you need 8 or 9 cabins i got my check 30 days after sailing

DCL doesn't normally offer group discounts over holiday weeks when the sailing date will be over the actual holiday. Like Christmas, Thanksgiving, Presidents week, Easter, etc

Thanks for the responses. The cruise would be a 3 night Dec 20th-23rd. So not on the actual holiday. I guess I need to call a travel agent and find out how this would work. We were looking for a discounted rate rather than a rebate check type of thing.
