After 19 years, our dear Shadow is gone. She has been with us since our youngest DD was 6. Shadow hasn't been doing well for several weeks. She had almost stopped eating. Today we came home and she wouldn't eat and wouldn't drink. She could hardly walk and did nothing but cry. We knew it was time; but all I can do now is cry. I can't believe that she is gone.

I'm so sorry! I know just how you feel. Last month we had to say goodbye to my baby of 16 years. The first week or 2 was dreadful and I cried a lot. I still miss him like crazy but it's a little easier. I hope it gets easier with time for you too. I'm sure our kitties are playing and cuddling with each other in kitty heaven now.

:grouphug: Hugs to you and your family! It is so sad to have to lose a kitty! It is obvious that you love her very much and gave her the best 19 years he could have had!

I'm so sorry. I wish there were words to ease your pain.

Please take comfort in not only giving your pet an amazingly long, well-loved life, but also realizing the time to let her go.

RIP, Shadow.

I am so sorry. IT is so hard to do, even when knowing it is the right and loving thing to do. :grouphug:

I am so sorry for your loss  We too had a cat that I got for my 6th birthday and she peacefully passed in my mom's lap at 18. It has been 2 and a half years and I still miss her but it does get easier.

I am so, so, so sorry  I shed a tear for you reading this and remembering how hard it is to say goodbye to one loved so much by the whole family. Our pets really do take hold of our heart and stay there!!! 3 years ago, I had to say goodbye to our beloved Jessie girl.....our calico kitty who was a beloved family member for 13 yrs of our lives. It was the hardest thing I have ever done.....but time has healed my heart and I do think of her often with much love and fond remeberance. We now have a new boy in our family....our 4 yr. old kitty Luke. He is not Jessie, but he is part of the family and loved for his own character he brings to our lives :) I hate that we only have a snippet of time with our furry family members, and when Luke's time comes it will be hard, however, I am thankful for the time I have him now and I cherish each day. One day I hope you will be able to remember your kitty with a smile instead of tears, I hope your memories will help you through this difficult time! Your Shadow looks like she was a beautiful, much-loved gal!

I'm so so sorry. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of having to put our beloved Ginger to sleep. We have been trying to not think about it because the pain can still be raw. Then tonight we found our cat passed away in the bedroom. Can't believe the timing and the incredible pain. Hugs to you and your family.

I am so very sorry for your loss  Pets truly are part of the family. Just remember, you loved Shadow enough to do what was best for her

I'm so very sorry. It was just last month that we had to say goodbye to our 19 y.o. Maine Coon. She had been ours since she was 6 weeks old and my baby. Geez, I'm tearing up typing this. But the last several months were particularly hard on her, with one crisis after another. She battled her way back, again and again, but finally it was too much and we had to let her go. It was 5 years ago, almost to the day, that we had to euthanize our other cat of 16 years. I've never gotten over that.

They worm their way into your hearts and cuddle up there, don't they? :cat: The price we pay for loving them so is having to say goodbye someday. How I hate that.

Again, I am sorry for your loss.

I'm so very sorry. The raw pain does subside a bit, but I still miss my beloved fur-babies after many years. They're never forgotten, always missed.

I am so sorry. I am teary eyed reading your post. When you lose a member of you family it is heart breaking. take care

I'm so sorry,, I know how hard it is to make that decision. :(

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so hard to let go of a pet that's been in a family so long. When I was 20 we had to put the families 22 year old cat to sleep and it was like losing a family member. Now our cat is 17, will be 18 in the spring, and I am starting to see signs of his advanced age which makes me so sad. I know its coming but that doesn't make it any easier
