We had some gutters replaced - do workmen usually clean up

There's no excuse for not cleaning up any mess that they left. The work area should be in better shape than when they found it. I'd be letting the company know that the job was not completed.

Not in NY they dont LOL....I had a pool installed and then had to clean up their crap all over the yard, pool boxes, soda cans, wrappers etc!! The cement guys cleaned up by washing their tools on my lawn, I spent the next week picking concrete out of my lawn!!

my crew definately better clean up.. they spent an hour today wiping down walls after sanding a floor and wiped each individual item that was on each shelf....

Maybe not the chairs but any mess they made. Did you already pay them? You don't have much leverage if you did...

I agree that they should have swept up their mess.

Now - I have a different opinion on the patio chairs that they stacked to get out of their way - should have been moved before the workers arrived IMHO. So I don't feel they should have been moved back.

They should pick up any debris left by them. The area should look AT LEAST as good as it did when they started.

I had a problem last year with siders -- threw their garbage on my flower beds, broke pieces of my fence, left trash everywhere. I called the company (before I sent final payment) and told them I would send a partial good faith payment and final payment when everything was completed to my satisfaction.

The salesman was mortified when he came back to check things out.

Take pictures if you can, so that you have backup.

I would expect them to clean up the dirt. I probably wouldn't actually do anything about it if it wasn't major, but I don't think I'd recommend them to friends, either.

And no, that's not in the middle of the job. That was the end, after they left.

We have had a lot of work done on our house. The guys didn't clean up in fact we had to rent a dumpster and load it ourselves and clean up after them each day. I know now what questions to ask before the work is done.
