We had a TERRIBLE first night! Is this normal?

I always thought they were for wiping off the mirror so you can shave after showering. Shows what I know.....

don't you use them to pull the pan out of the oven? Didn't even know they belonged in the bathroom. ;)

LOL!

Also raised by wolves.

(Reminds me of the "do you wash your towels daily" threads over on the DVC board).

My cruise in 2006 will be my first one ever....and for how much this trip costs I would be irritated also if I have the problems you encountered. I know some may sound trivial, but thats why I would think they should have not of been forgotten. The air was one thing....but I would think a nice supply of shower items should be totally routine for someone to keep supplied. For some of us (hopefully not me:earseek: ) this may be a once in a lifetime trip. It would be horrible to have a bunch of bad momories to reminisce about.:sad2:

I must have been raised by wolves too...we had a mattress issue once and I didn't even realize it! It was in my favorite stateroom, 5650. The first night, I noticed that I seemed to be drifting towards the center of the bed. I would wake up, move over, and wake up a little while later in the same position. I was too brain-dead for anything to register, and hubby sleeps like the dead. The next morning, we were out for a while and returned to our stateroom to find the mattress in the midst of being fixed. The stateroom host must have noticed it, or maybe the previous guests reported it. We don't notice much about the bed because we are always exhausted by the time we go to sleep.

I agree. Not normal. It almost sounds like there wasn't a stateroom attendant assigned to your room at first.

We were on the Wonder a few days before you and everything about the rooms was great. Our steward tidied and restocked our room twice a day. It was luxurious!

We were on the 11/11/04 Wonder and hardly ever saw our stateroom host, but he left his marks. We had wonderful towel animals, the best was a hanging monkey with a chocolate mouth!

We use wash cloths for drying our hands, they fit perfectly in the tiny area by the sink. We had plenty of lotion and shampoo, I liked the shampoo.

I hope you get a good response from DCL.

Our bad experience was on 11/10, the night before. We booked a room by the airport and came in at 1AM to find the door to the motel locked and a sign saying, "Sorry, Full." Well, we didn't give up easily, rang the bell, called the desk for at least 20 minutes. Finally we had to give up, obviously no one was going to answer, and we had the room held on a credit card. The national 800 number for the chain booked us into another motel that was opened. We're waiting for coupons for the night that we stayed because of the inconvenience. We had a message from original hotel manager apologizing, saying he has no idea where the night manager was and yes they did have a room for us, and of course they wouldn't charge us.

So much for coming in the night before and getting a good night's sleep!

However, our first Disney cruise was great and we're looking forward to the Member's Cruise.

I totally know how you feel and what it was like.
No one seems to talk about the gliches. Like our jucuzzi tub didn't work, where do I plug in the blowdryer.... (turns out I had to pull out a drawer in the vanity!....they cut out the back of the cabinet for me to stick my arm in to plug it in. My 11 year old took care of that. But on the first night, when you are getting ready for dinner the craziness .... no one talks about that.

After spending 6 months on this board before my first DCL cruise ...it seemed like I was expecting so much.

And then looking forward to meet our room steward on our first cruise, I was so excited. Imagining to have ice buckets full and animal towels on our beds.......only to have to call down at 11pm at night for ice, only to be told that "oh, sorry, your room steward is sick". Do I really need to know that? Just assign us someone else. That's okay, that's fine....that happens..... but we weren't the ones sick - we paid a lot of money and this is our vacation.........assign someone else.

And we were on a 4 day cruise this time! The lil gal who was "covering" would come in and tell us how sick he was...... I chalked it up to a "short cruise". He came in the last evening....I didn't pay that much attention. It was such a disappointment to talk to my kids and tell them AND show them pictures from this site about all the towel animals. We got one. The last night.

But our Second 7 day Western Cruise was THE best! Much more relaxed.

I think you should write them
because you probly paid a lot
of money for the 4 night cruise
and really only injoyed 3 of them

Please don't let this experience turn you off of cruising DCL. We had a terrible room steward on one of our 7 night cruises. We had things like no shampoo, no washcloths, no towel animals, and he would take our comforter every night. Our room was opposite of yours, it was freezing. Our room was also the last room her serviced. We would come back after late dining and our room would still not be done. He was terrible, but this year our room hostess was fabulous. She more than made up for all the trouble we had on the cruise before. So, I hope you give DCL another try. Kim
