We've had Sky for a while but today we had Sky+ installed. Looks great until I tried pausing live TV then it wouldn't stop. We couldn't get it to play back then the sky box wouldn't even switch off. Course this was my daft brother mucking about with it only 10 minutes before Prime Suspect comes on and we were desparately trying to get it back in business in time.

Any tips on what we were doing wrong? How do you play back after pausing a live TV programme?

Louise

Press play or to catch up with live tv press blue sky button :thumbsup2

Pressed play as it seemed the obvious choice but nothing happened. Oh the joy of new technology :happytv:

sometimes if you press to many buttons too quickly you have to leave it a few minutes before it rights itself or as cyrano says just press the sky button to go back to normal tv- we would be stuck without it !! although the kids do fill it up with stuff!

Check in your Sky+ settings to make sure Instant Rewind is enabled.
I know mine sometimes got in a mess when Live Pause was pressed and this was disabled, even though technically it shouldnt.

Congrats on your new Sky+, and whenever I pause anything I normally just fast forward or push the TV guide menu, where it prompts you to cancel the live pause.

Interesting fact for you; if you have just watched a programme all the way through on Sky+ you can then rewind the programme to the point you came in and still record it. We did that with Robin Hood; we thought it was cool!

Thats dependant on your setting in "instant rewind" as described earlier. I think its set by default to 30 mins, so if in your example, you watched it from the beginning but didnt press record until 45 minutes in, you could only record from 15 mins in onward....if that makes any sense.

I had mine set to off as thats what you have to do when you replace the hard drive for a larger model...I just forgot to turn it back on again.

Once you get used to it Sky+ is fantastic.

We have had Sky HD for a couple of months and now really notice how shoddy normal programs look on the old system, I'm so glad we switched and yes live pausing is an absolute god send something always happens when you try to watch your favourite show and you can always put in the planner your series links to make sure you don't miss recording them too it's really easy to set up and you can even do it from your mobile 'phone these days :rotfl: :rotfl: not that I've tried it!!

We've got Telewest's version of Sky+, which is called TVDrive. We got it last month and had a few teething problems in the first week, we are on our third box. However, by the end of the first few days all problems were sorted and its been fine since then.

It is so cool being able to pause live TV. ;)
