We got our welcome package today and ...

I am so sorry to say that the backpack they sent is so ugly. I feel so bad for saying that but it is hideous and cheap looking. I was hoping for a tote/bag that I might actually use. oh well....DVC is the best gift ever !!

ok...maybe I shouldn't have said hideous. so sorry...some people may like it. Honestly I don't like the cheap fake looking leather...the bag itself isn't too bad. Its a blue material (not sure if denim or not). It is a little masculine too.

The bag is so-so - nothing special - not very practical either as a backpack - I use it for weekend clothes for our cottage trips

I will ask what DW thinks of it to get her opinion and post back

I actually like mine. I use it as a carry-on when flying. Matter of fact, we joined in 97 and got the tote bag, which I wasn't too impressed with. When my sister joined last year and got the backpack I decided to buy one myself. Then wouldn't you know it, my sister gave me hers because she doesn't like backpacks. Now we've got two. I guess we all have different tastes. That's probably why there are 6 DVC resorts.

I take my DVC backpack with me to the parks everyday. Water bottle in the very bottom zippered compartment. I love the side zippers - very convenient to get my Passporter, squirt bottle or sunscreen out also.

We have a WDW backpack we use. We bought it a few years back and it is made of that scuba gear material and says WDW on it. it has lasted thru a lot !! We always get a lot of compliments on it. So we don't need another backpack but I will use it for some kind of travel help.

Does anyone know if you bought a resale contract if you would get the welcome package? What if we are already DVC memebers and bought a 2nd contract? I could use another back pack! LOL

As promised, spoke with DW and obtained her opinion:

Nice bag, given how much we spent, they could have done better - has sort of a retro look to it - would be ok for a couple of hours but not all day due to the narrow straps

After all the talk of this backpack, I purchased one on E-bay for my 10 year old, she looked at it and thought I was nuts??? Said she would never use it, she liked her sturdy canvass LL Bean one better!! So re-sold it on e-bay and only lost a few bucks!!

You don't get the goodies if you bought a resale contract, but if you purchase another contract through Disney (150 or more points) you'll get the goodies. If you add-on less than 150 points you'll still get a lithograph.
