What a wonderful upgrade for you! Just fYI, Stormalong Bay is NOT closed as some people above have reported- only small sections at a time were refurbished and most of it is done now- go and enjoy the pool- we are staying at the Beach Club and leave in 4 days- have fun!!

That's a great upgrade. I can't believe they called you at the last minute though. If they call me the day before we are due to arrive there, I'll be in a hotel somewhere in South Carolina or Georgia and will miss their call.

Any Epcot resort would be a quick yes from me. I think you'll love Yacht Club, not just for the resort but for the location. Have a grand time. I'll be getting on the road in 31 days for our anniversary trip.

Good on you. I have been many times and only once gotten an upgrade. Did a little research...the main slide is open and the main pool. Apparently, Disney closed the pool in stages. Not that it matters with an upgrade. I only mention the pool since when I was researching the upgrade situation...(I got one too) I saw this post. We are surprising our kids! I wouldn't normally enter a post to correct information. It is not my style to go after peeps. But the comment about the pool being closed...just got me ...you know who you are. Have a wonderful time! I know I will.

It's funny that you say Disney asked you if you "were interested" in switching to YC. Would anyone turn down a free upgrade from a Value to a Deluxe?

I'm probably the odd one who WOULD be disappointed in an upgrade. Me & the kids love the value resorts - plus I can't have a room with a balcony with sliding glass doors with my autistic son.

Well we're here now...having a great time! We've never stayed in an Epcot resort and I have to say I'll have trouble going back. It's just so covenient! We have stayed at all three of the monorail resorts and I like the location of the YC even better. We've been able to walk to Epcot every night for dinner in a different country plus it's just so beautiful here! Most of the pool is open but it's been a bit chilly so most of the swimmers are brave kids. I wanted to post to say that our luck didn't end with the hotel upgrade...we also ended up with a ROOM UPGRADE! Our flight was a really early one and we got to the hotel at about 9:30 am. We decided to go to the hotel to ditch our luggage with the bell staff and then head to the parks. When we checked in the woman noticed it was our anniversary and asked if we had any requests. I said a king size bed would be nice. She said she would see what she could do. She actually had a room for us and when we arrived it was a complete WATER FRONT room looking across the water at the Boardwalk. We have a great view of the Epcot fireworks in the evening as well...couldn't be better. We only paid $69 for two of the nights and $125 for the other two (AP rate)! I really hope others will have the same luck that we have had...we've never been upgraded at all before so this has been such a wonderful suprise!
