I had pretty much resigned myself to driving for our December trip- about a 20 hour drive each way. We are going the 18th-23rd and I couldn't find any flights for less than $350 each, and most were more than that!. That would be at least $1,000 total, which just wasn't in the budget. We've driven before and we knew we could do it for about $400, including gas, hotel, food, etc. So, that was the plan, but we weren't exactly thrilled about it.

Well, today, I decided to check again, just on a whim. I got roundtrip tickets on Delta from Little Rock to MCO for only $188 including all taxes, fees, etc.! So, now, we're flying for less than $600 total!

Just called and made my DME reservations, too!! :cool1:

Now, that I don't have that long drive to dread, I'm really excited about this trip!

(Actually, we've made the drive many times, and we honestly enjoy it - but only when we're staying a long time, like two weeks or so. That makes the drive worth it! I hate driving for short trips like this one!)

I am glad you get to fly! Enjoy your trip!

Hey Gem I just noticed your cute little preemie and wanted to say that I had one of my own - he was 8+ weeks early, 21 days in the NICU, weighed 4 lbs when we brought him home. Now age 6 and as sweet as can be! :love2:

Gem - Good for you. We were going to drive from Northeast Arkansas in September and was not looking forward to it with only one driver. Then we got the $39 airfare from SW. We were going to divide the drive up into 2 days. Boy, it was wonderful getting there in less than 2 hours!!! Have fun.

Well that is good news! I am sure you were not relishing the thought of subjecting that precious little guy of yours to 20 hours each way in the car; it'll be faster, easier and safer to fly it.

My now 6 yr old former preemie (27 weeks, 2 lbs 10 oz) loves the plane ride; of course she likes the destination even better!

And DME is fantastic! We used it three times during our October trip (radar problems in Boston led to cancelled flights, so we had to "suffer thru" three extra days at WDW;)); it worked great every time.

Have a great trip!
