We Don't Play Nice With Others. (Complete!)

Ah the saga of the missing luggage. It goes on. What a pain in the rear!

I'm glad you DID find some shorts at Target; I didn't see much of a selection of clothing when I was there even last week - at least not of the shorts variety. Plenty of t-shirts, but no shorts.

I'm glad that you just decided to get in the pool regardless!

It would have been SO HARD for me to arrive in Orlando and not go to a Disney park right away! I've been doing it my whole life, so it doesn't feel like I'm on vacation until I step into a park. I'm glad you at least got DTD, but no one wanted to shop!?! It's DTD!!! I could shop there for days!

HURRAY for the second toothbrush! hahaha

Wendy, catching up slowly.

The condo looks lovely, but what's with the noise of the sink? Did you report it?

Strange that you are in Florida and have a hard time finding shorts.

I bet that toothbrush from Johnny was one of the best gifts you evergot from him. ;)

Glad you enjoyed T-Rex.

We bought that ornament (along with 20 others) this year too...loved it!

ugh, lost bag "fun". I had a bag lost one trip and about a month later they found it and proudly informed me they had delivered it ... to the hotel I had been staying at nearly a month ago Took like another month for them to be able to go get it from there and then ship it back to my house. Good times

Glad things went so smoothly at DTD - I definitely have been hearing some horror stories about the parking so I think you were in the right to leave extra time.

Our kids found T-Rex too loud and scary, but they are a little younger .... glad you enjoyed the meal so much though!

And that is a great ornament! :thumbsup2

OMG! I am getting really upset about your missing bag. I can't believe it is STILL missing almost 24 hours later. That is just ridiculous. I hope you like the clothes you had to buy or that would make it a total bummer.

The condo looks really nice. Sorry you did not love the location. I have to say that our off site location was really good, but I suspect not all off site locations are created equal.

So there was only ONE TV? What????? Even with 4 bedrooms I can see where it would feel a bit crowded. I mean it is a condo, not a house. But the pool looks nice and I'm glad you just jumped right in. YAYAYAYAY!

Such crazy descriptions for you lunch entrees. I have an ADR there for dinner but I am going to cancel it and maybe try lunch. I really want to see the inside of that place.

Oh wow! I think I would have lost it on the luggage people at AC. Good for you for getting in the pool even if you didn't have your bathing suit!

I read your update last night and I was too exhausted to reply. Let's just say that yesterday was a pretty rough day- my husband decided to commemorate his 50th BD by tripping on a sidewalk on the way to the office and was pretty scraped up. "Fifty is NOT nifty!"

But, your saga with the luggage must have settled in my brain, because I had a dream that we were in Orlando for our Feb trip, got to our resort and realized we forgot to pick up our luggage at the airport!

:scared1:

Your saga with the unlost luggage is unreal! What a major pain!

I am glad that T-Rex was a hit with everyone. Your mastodon chicken sounds really yummy, as does your dessert. We really like it there.

I had no bathing suit, but (natebenma -- you'd be so proud of me!!) I jumped in fully clothed, with no intentions of letting this missing bag ruin my trip.

:lmao:

So that incident has not been forgotten, huh?

Thanks for the shout out.

:goodvibes

The only word I can think of is frustrating, but that just doesn't even seem to scratch the surface of how you must have been feeling! I haven't flown AC in 10 years, not because they lost my luggage, but because I found them generally rude!

You've got the right attitude and I can just picture you jumping in fully clothed :thumbsup2

Im so sorry your luggage was lost!! Im glad you decided to jump in the pool anyway!! :) Cant wait to see how the rest of the trip goes! :)
It was getting hard to keep a positive attitude at that point so I had to do something drastic. :lmao:

I cannot believe your rotten luck so far this trip. It's like, if something could go wrong, it did. :sad2:
I mean, come on, having to switch rooms...that stinks.
Yup, we had a Murphy's Law kind of trip, that's for sure!

Doesn't it kill you when you are with people who don't want to go in and look around shops?
I couldn't really understand it, I know we were all operating on a tight budget, maybe they didn't want to tempt the kids? :confused3

That dish does sound delicious! Makes me want to go to t-Rex, just to try it.
I really enjoyed it, it came with two huge chicken breasts though, I could never come close to finishing!

Perfect way to end the update, Wendy! :goodvibes not letting all the crud get to you and living in the moment. I loved it.
Thanks Alicia! It was hard, I admit, not to fall into a total funk about everything (especially still missing my luggage!) but I had to start making a conscious decision not to let it all get me down!

The next time Adam gives me a hard time for packing a carry on stuffed full to overflowing, I am going to direct him here. :p

I had an experience like yours once, and since then I manage to cram as much as possible into my carry on. I got all my shirts, undies, socks, an extra bra and 2 changes of pants into it last time, LOL! I'm so sorry you were off to such a rough start!
I can see me doing that next time for sure. I just didn't want to drag a bag around with me, fight for room in the overhead bins, stick it under my feet, etc. but next time I definitely will!

Missing luggage bites the big one. I will send pixie dust that the claim goes through! pixiedust:
Thank you, dealing with Air Canada, I have a feeling we're going to need it!

I've never tried T-Rex but may have to sometime soon. It looks pretty awesome!
I highly recommend it, so good! And so fun!

Hooray for the new toothbrush!!!
Yep, it's the little things! :rotfl:

Joining in! Wow--you guys are having some adventures to start your trip! I'm glad you're not letting them spoil the fun! And bless Johnny's heart for remembering that second toothbrush! I'd be having a problem with that-even with my DH!
:welcome: and thanks for joining!! We did try not to let anything get us down too much... it was hard though!

I'm glad you all had such a great experience at t-Rex! We sat in that same area when we went. It was so much fun and our girls loved it!
It's such an awesome restaurant, I absolutely love it!

See that's the part that is so frustrating. It's one thing to lose the bags, but to not just call it what it is... LOST... That's where I would lose it.
Exactly! The crazy language they use. "It's not lost, it's somewhere in our system..." If you can't locate it, don't know exactly where it is, and it's definitely NOT where it's supposed to be, it's FRICKIN LOST! :rolleyes2

Haha, it's amazing when you have almost nothing how even the smallest things seem so huge like the toothbrush. To be honest, that would probably be a good thing to apply in our every day lives.
True story. I think I'll never look at my own toothbrush the same way again.

Ah YAY, Finally something Disney. So glad your parking experience went so well because So. Much. Construction.
It went smoother than I ever expected, truly. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

So awesome that T-Rex was such a big hit. Score!
I was happy about that. I hate being the one to recommend things because certain people never let you forget it if they didn't have the same experience. *cough* People Mover *cough* Mother in law *cough* 4 years ago!

:hippie:

:mad: -- how frustrating about the bag situation!! Good luck getting reimbursed though!!I'm anxious to see whether and when you actually get your bags!!
Thank you! We will need the luck with the way Air Canada operates. :rolleyes2

Great job with the DTD parking!! Sounds pretty luck to me!! (Maybe a little pixie dust your way after such a stressful travel day! :wizard:)
It was early in the day and I've heard that it's easier then, but yeah maybe a bit of well-deserved pixie dust too! :rotfl:

TRex looks really cool, and the food sounds good! :thumbsup2
We've enjoyed it both times we've been there now, I love the food!

Yikes! What rough start. That sucks about your bags being lost. Really sucks. I'm glad you finally got your own toothbrush though.
Yup, rough indeed! That toothbrush was very welcome. ::yes::

The condo looks pretty. How long did it take you to get to the Disney area from there?
It was about 35 or 40 minutes in good traffic.

I had heard nightmare stories about parking at DTD too. We always drive, but we had the same experience you did. Parked in the casting lot and walked right in. No problem at all.
I was happy something worked out ok for us!!

T-Rex is so much fun! We had our first visit there this year. Your entree sounds delish! I may have to try that one next time. Glad everyone liked it!
It was delish, actually everyone's meal was!

Love your Christmas ornament. Good pick!
Thanks!

Ah the saga of the missing luggage. It goes on. What a pain in the rear!
It goes on and on and on! We are still fighting for our money back. :rolleyes2

I'm glad you DID find some shorts at Target; I didn't see much of a selection of clothing when I was there even last week - at least not of the shorts variety. Plenty of t-shirts, but no shorts.
I bought two colours of the same shorts, definitely not much selection. But it was something to cover my butt. :lmao:

I'm glad that you just decided to get in the pool regardless!

It would have been SO HARD for me to arrive in Orlando and not go to a Disney park right away! I've been doing it my whole life, so it doesn't feel like I'm on vacation until I step into a park. I'm glad you at least got DTD, but no one wanted to shop!?! It's DTD!!! I could shop there for days!
It was hard, glad at least we got to DTD but it was really different for us. Yeah no one wanted to shop. :confused3 I guess maybe they didn't want to tempt the kids?

HURRAY for the second toothbrush! hahaha
Best present ever. :rotfl2:

Wendy, catching up slowly.

The condo looks lovely, but what's with the noise of the sink? Did you report it?
Nope, we didn't. We had two plumbers in the house and I think it hurt their pride that neither one of them could fix the sink with no tools, MacGyver style. All our own fault though, we should have called right away. It never bothered us unless it was 5am though... and at that time we were too sleepy.

Strange that you are in Florida and have a hard time finding shorts.
Right??

I bet that toothbrush from Johnny was one of the best gifts you evergot from him. ;)
It absolutely was. I think about that every time I use it now. :rotfl2:

Glad you enjoyed T-Rex.
We did, had a great time!

We bought that ornament (along with 20 others) this year too...loved it!
I thought it was really cute, it will look great with all our other Disney ornaments!

ugh, lost bag "fun". I had a bag lost one trip and about a month later they found it and proudly informed me they had delivered it ... to the hotel I had been staying at nearly a month ago Took like another month for them to be able to go get it from there and then ship it back to my house. Good times
Whaaaaat? Oh wow, that's pathetic. :sad2:

Glad things went so smoothly at DTD - I definitely have been hearing some horror stories about the parking so I think you were in the right to leave extra time.
You know what would have happened if we left any later! So I'm glad we did too.

Our kids found T-Rex too loud and scary, but they are a little younger .... glad you enjoyed the meal so much though!
Ohh yeah I can definitely see it being pretty scary for little ones! It is loud!

And that is a great ornament! :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 I agree!

OMG! I am getting really upset about your missing bag. I can't believe it is STILL missing almost 24 hours later. That is just ridiculous. I hope you like the clothes you had to buy or that would make it a total bummer.
HA! 24 hours... I could only wish. Oops... spoiler alert! :lmao:

The condo looks really nice. Sorry you did not love the location. I have to say that our off site location was really good, but I suspect not all off site locations are created equal.
It was a pretty nice condo, I have no real complaints about the place but it was a little far for this on-site loving girl.

So there was only ONE TV? What????? Even with 4 bedrooms I can see where it would feel a bit crowded. I mean it is a condo, not a house. But the pool looks nice and I'm glad you just jumped right in. YAYAYAYAY!
One in the living room and only one bedroom had one, so two total. Mmm not that I want to go on vacation to watch TV, but when the guys were in the living room watching Shrimp Fishermen Extreme or whatever the heck it was at top volume at 11:30pm, it would have been nice to have something to drown it out while trying to sleep... :worried:

Such crazy descriptions for you lunch entrees. I have an ADR there for dinner but I am going to cancel it and maybe try lunch. I really want to see the inside of that place.
It was really good, we liked it a lot. Lunch and dinner are the same, I think. We were closer to dinner, around 4:00 or so.

Oh wow! I think I would have lost it on the luggage people at AC. Good for you for getting in the pool even if you didn't have your bathing suit!
I was getting close, Johnny has more patience than I do!

I read your update last night and I was too exhausted to reply. Let's just say that yesterday was a pretty rough day- my husband decided to commemorate his 50th BD by tripping on a sidewalk on the way to the office and was pretty scraped up. "Fifty is NOT nifty!"
Yikes!! Oh no! I hope he's ok! That is not how to celebrate at all. :sad2:

But, your saga with the luggage must have settled in my brain, because I had a dream that we were in Orlando for our Feb trip, got to our resort and realized we forgot to pick up our luggage at the airport!

:scared1:
Oh no!! Well here's hoping you DON'T have that happen!

Your saga with the unlost luggage is unreal! What a major pain!
Absolutely, I would love to have it finalized and paid for now so I could completely put it behind us!

I am glad that T-Rex was a hit with everyone. Your mastodon chicken sounds really yummy, as does your dessert. We really like it there.
We do too, very yummy all around.

:lmao:

So that incident has not been forgotten, huh?
Never!! It's my favourite!!

Thanks for the shout out.

:goodvibes

Lost luggage??? Not good... Not good at all!!! :sad2:
No, definitely not a good way to kick things off!

We don't have another option really, not out of Sydney and we usually use our airmiles. I'm thinking I'll have to try getting something better out of Halifax though because this last trip was beyond ridiculous.

Oh hiiiiiiiiii!!! I'm finally here! I am so far behind on everything! This is my first time logging in here at all in several weeks. But the good part is that there is no lack of Disney stories to read!! Haha.

I knew about some of your frustrations with the flights and the baggage, but it's even worse than I thought. I can't believe you guys had to split up!

Also, Johnny brought me back a gift -- a second toothbrush! :cool1:

(At this point in our trip, the little things were worth giant celebrations!)

I hope that wound up on an "I'm Celebrating" button!!!! :rotfl:

Dinner sounds amazing! I'm so glad that all worked out!! And I absolutely love that ornament!

It's so funny that you followed in Dee's footsteps and jumped into the pool despite being fully clothed! But, what else were you supposed to do? At least you guys were able to get a few things at Target and you eventually got a toothbrush. :thumbsup2

I'll be back for replies later, I'm about to head out for turkey at the in-laws but I just wanted to pop in to say

To all my Canadian friends! I hope this day finds you happy and surrounded by love.

As I snuggle with my fur babies and hug my awesome husband, remember my trip to Orlando, look out the window at the gorgeous sun shining on my gorgeous yard I can't tell you how thankful I feel.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hey Sue! :welcome:
I haven't been able to get on very much lately myself, so I definitely get it.
Hahahahaha I'm celebrating! :rotfl2: I should have had one that said "I'm celebrating getting here alive!"

I wasn't about to let my lack of luggage stop me! It was very nice to have another toothbrush and a change of clothes!

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friend.
Thanks Kathy!

Yikes! It's been quite a while since I've had the chance to get on the Dis!

Next year's trip is looking good already. November is a definite, and our tentative dates are the 15th to the 25th. We have a long (very long!) list of restaurants we'd like to take a closer look at. Next month we will call to see if that ridiculous travel package my parents have will work for us and if they can get us into the BCV or not. I can't wait to see if they actually live up to their word!

Ok, another update and then I'll get to reading all of yours and updating myself!

Chapter 3: "Bursting the Bubble"

We woke up very early to the sound of the kitchen tap loudly squealing as Billy made coffee.

"Johnny, you're a plumber for goodness' sake. Go fix that."

"I'm ON VACATION. I don't do work on vacation!"

:faint:

We got up and called Air Canada but they still couldn't track down our bag.

:faint: x 2

I tried to get everyone moving but we left a whopping HOUR later than I said we should... and everyone had agreed on.

:faint: x 3

Finally we were on the road. Johnny driving, me navigating. I was excited to see this sign:

IMG_3597 by teekathepony, on Flickr

We were going down a busy road and all I could see was this:

IMG_3598 by teekathepony, on Flickr

Cheap tickets, tattoos, and furniture all in one convenient location.

IMG_3599 by teekathepony, on Flickr

I couldn't help but get annoyed with all the "CHEAP TICKETS!" signs and felt a little bit of what Walt must have felt when he decided to make WDW a bubble. These ugly signs were bursting my bubble big time and I couldn't wait to get back in!

Promising.

Inside the bubble at last!!

IMG_3610 by teekathepony, on Flickr

YAY!!

We got parked no problem and got the tram to the park entrance. It was my first time using a Disney park parking lot since I was 5! We got to the ticket window where we all got in line and had to exchange our will call vouchers for actual tickets. Johnny and I of course, had linked our tickets to our Magic Bands, but those were in our luggage.

:faint: x 4

We had a bit of trouble linking up the wholesale tickets. Our CM was awesome and very patient with us, determined to get us in the park! Eventually I got the right confirmation number and we got it figured out. We got to the turnstiles (the fam was already in) and Johnny got a green Mickey!

:cool1:

I got blue!

:faint: x 5

A Manager came over and checked my ticket. There was no ticket loaded onto my card. She asked me where I got my card and if I'd used it yet.

"Right there and no." I answered and my heart sank a little. What if those wholesale tickets aren't always good?

So I had to go back, get in line again and see the same agent. I told Johnny to take the family to a ride and I'd meet them there, no use wasting their park time, but they said they'd wait for me.

I got back in line and the agent, who was helping a guest, looked up at me quizzically. I held up my card, pointed to it and mouthed "Doesn't work!" He finished up with the guests in front of him and caught my eye, I assume he was about to wave me around, but the guests in front of me moved up. Of course they had no way of knowing, and I was in no rush, the CM looked at me apologetically but didn't take long at all with that couple. The next couple in line went to the other agent and in no time I was back at the window.

"They said there's no ticket loaded on the card." I explained. I laughed a little at my continuing luck.

"I am so sorry!" He apologized profusely but I waved it off. No big deal! Just a little glitch and Johnny's saved and mine didn't. Kind of like pulling a thumb drive out of your computer before your files fully save. He re-tried it, re-checked it, and re-checked it again.

"Should be good now, I'm sorry again!"

Off I go and get a green Mickey. Yay!

We re-grouped and got maps, deciding what to do. While they decided, I went to meet an old friend.

IMG_3624 by teekathepony, on Flickr

Good ole' Bo.

I'm pretty sure I convinced them to go to Rock n Rollercoaster first. I have no photographic evidence of this, but I'm so sure that's what we did.

And I do remember that only Johnny, Shellie, PrincessD11 and I rode. Shellie and PD had a blast (so did we of course!) and came off totally exhilarated!

The whole time we were in line Johnny had been linking everyone's tickets to try to get some TSM fastpasses but there were none available. So we decided to head over and take our chances in the standby.

(For those unfamiliar, this is what happens when you don't get to the parks early!)

:faint: x 6

IMG_3626 by teekathepony, on Flickr

Here we are!

IMG_3627 by teekathepony, on Flickr

Let's see what we're up against.

IMG_3629 by teekathepony, on Flickr

55 minutes. Lots of loud complaining, but we did somehow decide to go in and wait it out.

IMG_3636 by teekathepony, on Flickr

Mr. P kept us occupied for a while, but he did get repetitive after a while. It felt like a long wait.

IMG_3641 by teekathepony, on Flickr

Finally we got in and rode! YAY! We all had a great time and the kids absolutely loved it.

I was keeping an eye on the time because I had a special meeting to get to and didn't want to miss it. We were walking in the general direction we needed to go when we spotted the Great Movie Ride and a posted 5 minute wait. I checked my watch, yep, looks like we have time! Let's go!

We got into the movie preview room and it was full.

Oh dear. This ain't no 5 minute wait!

:faint: x ... wait I've lost track. 7? Yes I think so.

We waited about 20 minutes and I texted my friend who said it was fine. When we got to the front of the line we were directed to the far right. All the way down. Wait... far right? I know what that means. I grabbed Johnny's arm.

"We're getting the cowboy."

He looked around with a grin on his face.

"No way. We don't have that kind of luck on this trip."

"I'm sure of it Johnny. We're getting the cowboy."

We got all loaded into our vehicle and took a ride through the movies. We kept going...

RIGHT

THROUGH

THE GANGSTER SCENE.

Nothing happened.

Then...

IMG_3646 by teekathepony, on Flickr

IMG_3648 by teekathepony, on Flickr

"I TOLD you we were getting the cowboy!!!"

IMG_3652 by teekathepony, on Flickr

We had a great ride and the rest of the family loved it. I explained to Shellie the significance of the cowboy scene and how it took us 6 trips and a specific request to ever see the cowboy. She thought that was pretty cool.

Off we rushed to make it to my first Dismeet! Who were we meeting?

That's next!

"I'm ON VACATION. I don't do work on vacation!" Haha I gotta go with Johnny on that one.

Well, you just never know when the urge to get cheap tickets, tattoos, and furniture at the same time (I'm sure it happens), so nice to know that's available.

You drove by my hotel! Of course, I'm pretty sure I wasn't there at the time. ;)

Haha, I knew where you were going (even if I didn't already) just by your location beside the WDW sign. I hate that with DHS you don't go under it. Well, you can and just go to the back entrance, but still.

Aww what a nice CM. I'm very much ok with mistakes being made, but just the fact of acknowledgement goes such a long way.

You know you're with newbees when 55 minutes for TSMM seems outlandish. To the rest of us it's "Wow that's short", lol.

COWBOY!!!!!! See sometimes Disney has a way of trying to even things out.

I KNOW WHO YOU'RE MEETING!!!! <---- Yes I am aware it's not me, that's just me raising my hand. I remember my school days manners.
