"We don't have nothing...."

No no no.

It's:

"We ain't got no . . ."

when you grow up in South Louisiana.

Not just in south Louisiana-" We don't got" or "I don't got" has even been posted on the DIS in some threads.

Now that you've all had a good laugh at the expense of country music lyrics, may I remind you of one of the classic examples, from over forty years ago and an entirely different genre? "I can't get no satisfaction..."

Yet nobody made fun of the Rolling Stones.

They have a valid excuse, though. There was so much illegal drug use by their band members at the time, that good grammar would have been impossible. Just the fact that they were able to stand up and speak at the same time, while all of those drugs freely coursed through their systems, is a testament to their greatness. Just look at their name. What do you think they were rolling that resulted in them being so stoned all of the time?

What's Toby Keith's excuse? What's Loretta Lynn's excuse? They done don't got nothing or no, not pertinent excuse. (Message from the Emergency Humor System - This has been an attempt at humor. Had this been an actual joke, further instructions would have been made available to you).

Disclaimer - As an aside, I would like to note that I am just kidding around. I mean no disrespect to the people, or English professors teaching the youth of America's deep south. What with all the tipping cows, growin' crops, and rallies to secede from the union (you Texans know who I'm talking about), its amazing that they even have time for grammar. (Please see E.H.S. bulletin above)

Disclaimer (for the disclaimer) - I was merely joking with the first disclaimer. This second and final disclaimer is the actual disclaimer. All genres of music have their own grammatical styles that are utilized. Just look to rap music as an example. I know the words are English, but I can't make sense of it. Yo, yo homey. What's the bichizzle?:confused3 Don't take the ribbing seriously. Country music is actually my favorite genre of music. Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley, Dixie Chicks; Kenny Chesney; Garth Brooks, etc. - It done don't get no better than that. Seriously! I mean it!
