Just got word today that our 135 AKV contract closed! Yay! Now we just wait for Disney to have us in the system. I figured we'd be good to go once we passed ROFR, but it was nice that the sellers also got their docs in quickly :thumbsup2

Ours was a resale via The Timeshare Store (and Magic Vacation Title). Thanks to Jamie et al., the process was very smooth and we had great communication from all. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Hubby and I have been talking about DVC since 2004 - it's nice to finally be on the other side :)

Congratulations on the closing of your Disney Vacation Club membership. I am glad to see that we were a part of your new Disney adventure. :thumbsup2

What is the advantage of the dvc? We book every year at disney...get the free dinning ..pay about $82.00 a nite at the value resort and buy the ticket package we need. We don't pay a yearly fee and don't shell out $16000. Am i missing something?

Congrats!!!! :thumbsup2

I am patiently waiting on my resale add-on@ AKV to be approved. Seems like forever! :rolleyes1

Nicer accommodations with a locked in price for the next 45 years (not counting some increases in the maintenance fees). Families who are happy staying in value resorts, or who only come when there's free dining are not good candidates for DVC.

DVC resort rack rates run in the hundreds of dollars per night range -- sometimes many hundreds - like $500-600 at peak times, so you can't compare an $82 value room to a DVC villa room.

Welcome home Neighbor! Enjoy using your membership.

I recently used TSS and Magic Title for a BCV resale I bought and they were wonderful to me too.

Thanks, everyone! We're excited! :dance3:

For the way we travel and where we like to stay, DVC will be a good fit for us. While I liked our stay last year at Pop Century well enough, we usually prefer moderate or above - we like the space and usually want more than just a place to sleep. We're not park commandos who only see our room between midnight and 7am :)

Yes, we'll have the yearly fee, but by doing resale we spent considerably less than $16K ;) And we weren't locked into either 100 or 160 pts (we went for the middle at 135).

The DVC sections of the forum have a lot of threads on the pros/cons of DVC - interesting (and informative) reading!

Congrats and welcome home.

We bought resale too. Our points were in the system 4 days after closing.
