Ok we have decided to have 1 very nice meal. We want something the kids (boy and girl ages 5 and 4)would enjoy a lot BUT also something that has very good food. Does something with both these combonations exsist at Disney World? If so, which restaurant would you pick? Doesn't have to be a character meal.

California Grill on the top of the Contemporary!

We went last January with our girls, ages 8 & 11. Phenomenal food, service and view. Go for dinner and time your dessert (as best as possible) with a view of the fireworks at the Castle. When you call Disney Dining they can help you figure out a time to make this happen. Nothing like it!!!:wizard:

Dito on California Grill. View alone is worth it and great food is an extra bonus. Enjoy your vacation and the holidays. :cool1::banana:

We have had really good meals at Ohana's at Poly, but I know it seems to be a hit or miss for some. They do have activities for the kids so that is nice.

We also had a terrific meal at Teppan Edo in Epcot- one of the best I have had. Your meal is made in front of you so it's dinner and a show, but the quality of the food was outstanding.

We also had fun at Beirgarten in Epcot. The kids enjoyed this too. It's buffet and the food was surprisingly fresh for this type of meal. A lot of choices too.

We did Whispering Canyon as one of our 18 ADR's but it wasn't our favorite. It was fun and the food was good, but if you are looking to do one special meal I wouldn't choose Whispering Canyon. Our favorite - Le Cellier - best steak we have ever had. The kids really liked their food and the bread here as well.

As a "nice family meal" I would agree with Cal Grill.
(as a romantic meal, no way)

What about the Habachi meal resturant in Japan. (I forget the name)
Good food, yet fun for the kids to watch them cook and prepare it.

coral reef...

i would say those are our top three "nice" restaurants (not including the cali grill) that would also keep kids happy... the downside for many at teppan edo is the sharing of the table... if that sort of thing bothers you, then skip it...

How is Whispering Canyon Cafe?

One of two Disney restaurants you couldn't pay us to eat at again (along with Hollywood & Vine).

I agree with a previous poster who suggested Biergarten. We've always had good efood and good service and the kids (when they traveled with us) loved the band and being able to dance on the dance floor.

I've seen nothing but great reviews for Teppan Edo. Our dinner there was pretty good, but nothing I'd go out of the way for again. We were seated w/another party who pretended we didn't exist. Now I'm not blaming the restaurant for that; however, we did sit for over 1/2 hour w/no food of any kind, and the whole experience took over 2 hours by the time we finally got our bill paid. The food was fine, but not worth that kind of wait . I will say that the workers there are the most polite people we have ever encountered. Again, the food was good, but there really was too much lag time for me.

my kids really liked the coral reef - it was our surprise "nice" dinner last trip - the view of the fish kept them very busy - the food was really good !

Our family really enjoyed Coral Reef (our kids are 3 and 5). We all liked the food a lot, the kids loved the tanks. My DD loved the little placemat on the table to find all the animals in the tank and color them. We also had a great waiter and I liked how the restaurant was "smaller" in terms of other restaurants at WDW...it wasn't to loud or overwhelming. The lighting was great too!

Probably our best family meal the whole week of our last trip.

California Grill & Teppan Edo would be my suggestions.

Given the kids ages, Teppan Edo may be better due to the entertainment factor. CG is amazing & my kids favorite but it is meant to be a long, relaxing dining experience. Only you know where your kids tolerence level bottoms out.

I would pick Crystal Palace breakfast, my nieces loved it and I like getting in the park early for pictures and whatnot
