I'm the poster, CarolMN, and I took your advice. I just called back and verified my reservation. Mama Melroses. Unless they decide to change the $$ amount they confirmed for me over the phone, the price was $22.99 per adult.

Can you only book this in advance now, or can you do it once you get there, and pay the regular old prices. Will the price be these new ones, even if you book it on the day of your FDP? I would like to know so I can book in the a.m.

I read that you can use wishes for this, but the information also says that your credit card is charged when you make the reservation. Anyone know how they handle those who want to use wishes? Would I pay for the package and get a refund later, or would they just note that we would be using wishes and not need a credit card number?

Anyone know?

laurenk--You'll pay the new prices, even if you book upon arrival. If you book the same day, a credit card will be used as a guarantee. I then presume you pay at the restaurant. But its the new prices no matter how you book it.

lovespugs--If you are using a package option, a credit card is used for a guarantee. If you don't show up or cancel within the 48 hours, your card will be charged. Otherwise, they'll charge it to your package.

Luv2Roam, they hadn't cancelled this option as of 2 weeks ago! We also reserved our FDP from home within 7 days of the night we wanted it, by calling Guest Services at our resort. We did this in January 2001, May 2001, and most recently just last weekend! My friend and I went down for 3 nights for Labor Day weekend and decided to call and give it a try and we had no problems!

Now, with this new way of paying a set price in advance, I guess that option is gone now.

I guess my question is --WHY is Disney doing this?
As an earlier post suggested, the whole FDP was designed to get people to eat (full meals)at MGM restaurants. In exchange for you eatinga full meal at one, Disney offers you special seating an a "semi-private" entrance to Fantasmic.
Seemed to be working OK--but now this new policy.
Only thing I can think of is that people were somehow going to the restaurants and NOT ordering full meals..
Now, they know if you go, you will be paying a set price.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't see any other reason for this. Fantasmic would always be full anyway, so this must have everything to do with the restaurants.

Thanks Dopeygirl, I'll be booking it as soon as I get thru for Cindy's here, and they tell me "sold out". Been on hold for 5 minutes......

I figured out that H&V old price with tax and 20% tip for 2 adults and 2 kids is only 3 dollars less then this new price. Still holdin...8 minutes.....

CDoobee -- That's odd. I called Guests services at ASMo and was told this was not possible. Guess one of times where I should have called back until I heard the answer I wanted from a CM. Ask four and you get four different answers usually.

My reservation is for 4:50 at H&V(said it was the latest time possible) and there is conflicting info. on whether Fantasmic is at 6:30 or 7pm. Not all the CM's I spoke to gave the same info. I was also told my card would be charged in full now, where as my neighbor was told it would be charged the night of the show. Another neighbor was told it was sold out for November 11th, but when she called back and spoke to a different CM, the first one was apparently not looking at the correct screen. He even went as far as to say " I have worked here for 16 years, I know what I am doing!" when she questioned it being "sold out" so fast.
