Hello Fellow Foodies!!

Welcome to my Disney Dinning Review. Like many of you, the Dinning Review Thread is my favorite on the boards and because of everyones reviews, we ate at some great places on our trip. Places that perhaps we wouldnt have even thought about trying before. So with that said, I wanted to contribute as well. This is only my second review so be gentle because I know I am going to get some backlash!! ;) ha-ha.
My Mom and I returned from our best Disney trip yet on Feb 1st. So after a week of getting back to reality I am ready to begin my dinning review. First off I dont have a fancy rating system, basic 1 10. We are fortunate that we have never had a horrible dinning experience (food or service) while at Disney. Each time we go we try and go to all new places, but we do seem to always end up at a few of our favorites. So I am just going to tell you about our overall experience and hopefully it will help a few people out.

My friends think I am nuts, but Disney is my favorite place to vacation & and I dont have kids. They cant imagine going to Disney without kids & like whats the point. Well as we all know, the point is THE FOOD!! As with past trips, this trip consists of myself, Rachel (35) and My Mom, Barb (62). I am very fortunate to have a mother who is also like a best friend. She was one of the people who just couldnt understand why I kept going back. Until she ate the food that is & then she was hooked! So just a quick little background & We stayed the Beach Club Resort (Jan 26th Feb 1st). This was our first time staying there or at any deluxe for that matter. So in keeping with logistics, we planned our meals around location or as my Mom would say, On Campus. Ha-ha. Meaning, anything we could walk to was considered On Campus. EPCOT WS is our favorite park and there is something magical about after a long day in one park, just walking over to WS, getting a Grey Goose Slushie and snackin and relaxin. Of course we ate in other parks, but always tried to have dinner close to home. We were on the Deluxe Dinning Plan. Yes, its a lot of food but we like to take our time and relax. Thats a great thing about Disney, everyone can experience it in their own way; whichever works best for them.

So if you would like to hear about our dinning experiences please follow along. I have lots of pictures and describe everything the best I can.

You all know the feeling ... After planning and re-planning and planning again over the last several months, the day finally arrives. It is finally the day to leave for WDW! You don't even care that you have to leave your house at 2 am (bc you live in the sticks) to get to the airport. We are all just thinking ... in 6 hrs we'll be at our resort eating at "insert name here" or we will be in park X doing whatever. ha-ha! At least that is how it is for us. About 48 hrs before we leave we get into this mental countdown and when that plan get thrown off, holy cow NOW WHAT?? Our plan was delayed by about an hour but for good reason. Long story short ... while we were waiting to take-off, a guy throws up and passes out right behind me on the plane. My mom is a nurse ... she gets back to him, he barely has a pulse, she tells the airline people to head back to gate bc he needs to get to an ER ... Back to the gate we go. She gets him to come around, then the paramedics board the plane and he is holding his own and responding at this time (Thank God!!). He and his family get off the plane and then we were on our way. It's still so weird to me ... like we just went to Disney and who knows what happened to him. I hope he was ok.
So anyway ... we were a little behind schedule but I can deal with that considering the circumstance. ;) ha-ha It's amazing how karma works. From the time we landed at MCO to the time we left, our vacation was perfect. From the time we landed to the the time we boarded the Magical Express, it wasn’t more then 15 minutes. We timed everything perfectly and within 45 minutes, we were at our Resort. I had done online check-in a few weeks ago so the entire process took about 7 minutes. A girl met us out front as we were walking in, looked up our reservation on her iPad, went and got our packet and we were on our way. Our room was ready, and we got an upgrade to a lagoon view! Let the magic begin!! And more importantly BRING ON THE FOOD!

Looking forward to it!
Thanks! =) And I love reading your recent review.

Can't wait to hear your reviews! Beach club will be our resort this upcoming October.
We LOVED Beach Club so much. If we could always afford to stay at a Deluxe, I know we would always be there. You'll love it. =)

I'm in! Love your title! :lmao:
Thanks for following! And boy did we eat. =)

I just saw this thread and can't wait to see the reviews.
Thanks. And on with the reviews ... Hope you enjoy. =)

Once we got settled in our room and checked out the resort, we headed down to Beaches & Cream for lunch. For those of you who have never been here, it is a cute soda fountain style place. You can't make a ressie here so you just walk up to the podium and are given a buzzer. They said our wait was only 10 minutes and it was even less then that. =)

After checking out the menu, we both decided on the Classic Turkey Club. We didn't want to eat too much because we had a ressie at Be Our Guest that night.

We made a great choice. They were exactly what we were wanting ... Something quick and light. I was worried that the bacon would have too much of a smokey flavor but I had nothing to worry about. The sourdough bread was fresh, lettuce and tomato crisp, and bacon cooked just right. They piled on the turkey and the side of fries were fantastic. We couldn't stop eating them. And the pickle they add was crisp as well.

We didn't get any ice cream because we knew we had BOG in a few hours. So to kick off our trip it was a great start. Taking the food (Fabulous), the service and environment into consideration we gave Beaches & Cream a 9. We would go here again no hesitation. Our bill was $29.78 without tip. Granted we were on DxDDP but for those of you who aren't on a DDP, I would pay OOP for this meal.

Great start and your pics are fantastic:thumbsup2
Terri
Thanks. I will try to keep it up! =)

Nice start to the review. Can't wait to read and see more.
Thanks. Much more to come. Enjoy. =)

I am loving your dining review so far!!! Beaches and Cream is on our must do list for our next visit!!! :yay:
We really wanted to go back, but just ran out of time. We saw some people there with burgers and they looked great! =)

I have always wanted to try Beaches and Cream!
You really should! =)

Cool, I can't wait to here what you thought of BOG, it was hands down one of the highlights of our entire last trip.

Can't wait to read more! We love BC too, but we've never made it to Beaches and Cream. It is high priority for our next trip. Those banana splits are calling me name! :yay:

I just love the proximity of BC to Epcot WS. So nice that you scored a free upgrade to a lagoon view!

Around 3:00 we were out the door and heading to the Magic Kingdom for dinner at the new Be Our Guest Restaurant. Like everyone else, we were really looking forward to finally checking out the New Fantasyland and eating at Be Our Guest.
The restaurant was absolutely amazing. No pictures or words can really do it justice. Wow! Those Imagineers know what they are doing.

From my understanding, the Main Ballroom is the only room open for dinner and all three are open for lunch. Our reservation was for 4:45 so I went to check-in at the podium about 20 minutes before hand. After standing in line, I was told I couldn’t check in until my reservation time … hmm. So essentially that meant going back to the end of the line. Alright, we did just that and our second time to the podium we got a pager. Now there wasn’t anyone to tell you what to do next or where to go. When I first went through the line, there was someone at the gate informing people and also not letting people go over the bridge without a pager … there was none of that. Things were kind of chaotic. Yikes! Anyway, we finally go our pager and as we were walking over the bridge it went off .. YES! Things were looking up and I was hungry. Ha-ha. Well not so much. As I check in with the next attendant only to find out that the pager number I have doesn’t match the name on their slip. I am a very patient person but I have to admit, by this time I was a little annoyed. But such is life right … you’re at Disney everything is good. =) So once they got everything straightened out we were seated at 5:20. We were seated and really were speechless by how amazingly themed this place was. Including the Beast walking through the middle every now and then.
Our server started with the traditional basket of rolls. She then went over the menu with us and gave us a few minutes to make our choices. For appetizers she recommended the French onion soup and for entrees, the grilled strip steak or the Sautéed Shrimp and Scallops. (Mini Rant: Why are some Disney restaurants so dark? I understand it’s all to create the atmosphere but being able to read the menu would be nice. LOL!)

Appetizers:
French Onion Soup - topped with crouton and gruyere cheese.
Mussels Provencal - with white wine, tomato, garlic, onion, basil and butter.

IMG_0474_zpsc04b60cb.jpg

My mom loved the soup. Some of the best she ever had and would order it again. I had the mussels and they were so good! The broth was outstanding … used the bread to dip into it. ;) ha-ha.

Entrees:
Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops - with seasonal vegetables served in puff pastry with a creamy lobster sauce.
Grilled Strip Steak - with garlic-herb butter and pommes frites.

IMG_0476_zps9979fe58.jpg

Unfortunately these were not a hit like the appetizers. My mom said her entrée was cold. I asked for my steak to be medium well but it came out rare. We are not the type of people to send food back, if it’s editable we will eat it. But when it is cold and under cooked, we had to ask for it to be sent back. ☹ You hate to do that, but then it kind of set a bad vibe for when rest of the meal. When we go new orders, they were in fact warmer yet still not as hot as you would expect. The steak was also served with fries, which were very good. The vegetables were green beans with roasted peppers. Unfortunately the peppers over-powered everything and that’s all you could taste.

For dessert, a dessert trolley is brought to your table and you get to choose which one you like.
IMG_0478_zps689d8dcf.jpg

Your choices are:
Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake - vanilla sponge cake, strawberry mousse filling, and cream cheese icing.
Triple Chocolate Cupcake - chocolate sponge cake, chocolate mousse filling, and chocolate ganache.
Lemon Meringue Cupcake - Vanilla sponge cake, lemon custard filling, flamed meringue icing and crunch.
Chocolate Cream Puff - filled with chocolate mousse topped with whipped cream.
Passion Fruit Cream Puff - filled with passion fruit mousse and topped with whipped cream.
Lemon-Raspberry Cream Puff -filled with lemon custard (Dessert is gluten-free and No Sugar Added).

We went with the Lemon Meringue Cupcake and the Chocolate Cream Puff. These both were very good. =) During our dessert, the table next to us also sent back their shrimp entrees because they were cold. So something must have been going on.

Unfortunately we were a little disappointed with BOG. Just seemed as though it started off on the wrong foot. And that they weren’t working on all cylinders … ya know what I mean? Taking the food, the service and environment into consideration we gave Be Our Guest a 7. We so wanted to love this place. We will try it again but may wait a bit. We did speak to several people who went for lunch and said it was great. So maybe we will try lunch first. But right now lunch is about a 45-minute wait for a quick serve. Hmm. Our bill was $98.43 without tip. At this point I wouldn’t pay OOP for this meal.

Great pics...keep em coming. Sorry to hear about those dinners cause they looked so good and I was thinking i might have to have the scallops with the puff pastry for my spring break trip. I hope It is served HoT!!...Gosh I am a sucker for a puff pastry:lmao:
