The free dining plan really made us re-think our oh-so-carefully made plans. I was calling an AAA rep back and forth for 2 days while we tried to figure out a package, and we finally decided to stay with what we had. Phew! I really was feeling uneasy about having all 4 of us in one very small room, and spending alot more money. Plus, since our trip is 8/13 to 8/20, the dining plan wouldn't be free anyway. If it was, we might still be considering it.

Maybe someday we'll stay onsite, but for now, for us, this works out so much better!

IMHO you made the right decision. The words free and Disney NEVER really go together. There is always a catch. If you are staying in more spacious accomodations I know you will be happier.
WE went through the whole staying off property thing about five years ago. I was so nervous and did not think anything could be as wonderful as a cramped little room at the All Star or PO. BOY was I wrong! Two bedrooms, full kitchen, two baths huge dining and living area with a screened patio for the same price or better showed me that I did not need a couple of huge tennis racquettes or huge surf boards (AS SPORT) to be happy. And it cost the same or less!!

I guess my question about the free meals is ...if the Disney resorts are so wonderful, why aren't they filled? I mean to make an offer like this when they consider a paper sleeve for your AP a perq, well something is not as it should be.

Only one answer I can think of-Last years Hurricane season-ring a bell,??anyway too many people got scared off do to that again this year and the free dining plan is free and my friend got it included in her trip in Oct-I thought the offer was good from July-thru-Oct 4th, but I could be wrong :confused3

Ckckc,
I thought so too, which is why I called to change things. I guess you have to book it between now and July 1st (or something) but it's only good from 8/21 to 10/1. I never thought about that being hurricane season....I'm sure you're right and that's why they're doing it. Oh well, good for those people who got it. And I'm also pleased because I think our week will be less crowded now, since it's the week before the free dining starts. I hope so anyway!
