We bought!! need some advice...

Well, as of last night, we are the proud owners of 200 BCV points!!
Thank you all for the great info you have provided.

Now I need some more advice. We are currently booked through CRO for 6 nights at BWV. My guide checked with member services and there are some of my nights available. Should I stay 3 nights at BCV on points and then switch to the cash stay at BWV? Or, do we just keep the exixting reservation? Any suggestions? Thanks!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME HOME!

My advice is to go ahead and reserve the BCV nights on points and then get on the waitlist for the remaining nights. I'd keep the BWV reservation as a back up until the BCV waitlist comes through (and it probably will).

You don't say when you are planning to go, though, so there may not be enough time for the above strategy to work. Be sure to check the cancellation policies for both the CRO ressie and the BCV points so that you don't end up with a penalty. Don't forget to consider your banking deadlines.

Both resorts are great, so I know you will enjoy your stay no matter where you end up.

I would say that this depends on circumstance.

Do you plan on going back again sometime this use year? Have you already "paid" for the reservation with cash?

If you have already paid for the reservation and do plan another trip this use year, then keep the reservation cash and go ahead and make your second reservation on points.

If you haven't paid the reservation off, then using points will help accomplish the goal so to speak.

If you have paid the reservation in full and don't plan to go back again for another year or more, you could either bank the points of make the switch and have some extra souvenir/food cash

I would say if you are going back anytime soon and can use the points then AND you got a good deal on the BWV go ahead and just stay there.

I had the BC already booked on a good deal but when I bought, I switched it to the BCV because I wanted to be in a 1 bedroom. If I had the BCV or BWV on a good deal, I would have kept the cash ressie and banked the points.

You didn't say WHEN you are wanting to go. There are no DVC bookings available for the first part of December. So, if you have the BWV booked for that time, you better keep it. However, if you have the BWV booked for another time, and they tell you that you can get it with DVC points, you should definitely book with the points. As I understand it, the cost of BWV would be well over $200 per night by cash, and your points booking would add up to less than $100 in almost any case.

Thanks for all of the good wishes! I can't believe we actually did it. What a blast it was, telling our 6 year old, "Now we can go to Disney World every year!"

Sorry I wasn't clearer about the resort dilemma. We're going in August right at the "season change", so the DVC resorts are all pretty booked. We decided to book the available nights at BCV on points and waitlist the rest. I'll keep the cash stay at BWV for the time being. Worst case scenario is we switch resorts halfway through the stay. Not a big deal for us. The only available discount at the time was AAA, so using points will be much more economical!

I see that you are still ... um ... 57 days 20 hrs. 7 mins. 19 secs away from your trip. I would recommend that you grab the nights at BCV now and put your self on the waitlist at BCV and BWV. Some people don't cancel until the last minute. That would be 31 days from their checkin date.

Since you don't mind moving, you might also want to consider OKW and VWL if they are available. They're not in the Epoct area, but you will save a bunch of $$ that can be applied to your vacation and you will be able to stay exactly where you want next time. If you go this route I would also stay on the WL at BCV and BWV in case something comes up. You can always switch your points usage around.
