Okay we booked a VERY last minute trip and upgraded to the Poly Concierge Garden View Room. I booked with an AP rate - very excited as we have never stayed at the Poly (although we always eat at Ohana's :goodvibes )

We are leaving on Friday for 5 nights. Since we aren't getting a planner I was wondering what to do - should I call Poly directly for anything prior to like room preference, PS, etc... The CM I talked to didn't know much about concierge and tried to connect me thru to someone and I was disconnected. I don't want to miss out on anything since we are paying a pretty penny.

We are taking our 3 (almost 4) yr old DD who is a Disney fanatic, esp Minnie. This will be her 2nd trip but I think this one will be real special for her. We will be relaxing a lot but also doing MK, AK and MGM.

Would love any info, advice that will make our trip at the Poly concierge more special.

Thanks all!!!! :earsgirl:

I would email and if there are any special PS you would like but keep in mind at this short notice they may not be able to help. Unfortunately I don't have the email address but maybe someone here does if not check out the Tikimans site. Just relax, forget about the cost and just enjoy.

First of all, congratulations. In my opinion you've picked a great resort and there is nothing like the service at the Polynesian Concierge!!! We've stayed there several times, the most recent being last October. And we have our ressies for next October - - - six months from today!!!

If you have any kind of room requests you should fax something Tuesday (three days in advance). This was recommended on the "All Ears Net" site and it worked for us. The fax number is 407-824-3174.

I would also call the Polynesian Monday and ask for the concierge desk. (The operator will probably make sure that you're a guest or have ressies before putting you through.) When you get through to the concierge desk explain that you made last minute ressies and wanted to touch base with them. Usually they call you a few weeks in advance and go over all the concierge perks and do priority seatings for you, etc., but since it's so close to your arrival they may not do that. The number for the Polynesian is 407-824-2000.

If you've never checked out the "All Ears Net" site take a few minutes and check it out. There is a special section dedicated just to Polynesian Concierge service. The link to it is:

http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_poly.htm

There are also reader reviews (mine is one of them :cool1: ) for the concierge service. The one CM, Marc, that I mentioned in my review has transferred to the GF. But to the best of my knowledge Marilyn and Jeffrey are still at the Poly. All the CMs were fantastic but these three really stood out.

If you have any questions that maybe I can help with please feel free to PM me.

HAVE FUN!!

You will love it :goodvibes We stayed there a few years ago & was even upgraded to a clear view of the castle! If you want a balcony, 3rd floor is the only floor that has them. 1st floor have the patios, 2nd floor just has sliders that open to slots (no decking). Concierge lounge is on the 2nd floor & when you watch the fireworks from there, they pipe in the music. My kids loved it! When you are in the lounge, if your DD wants chocolate milk, they have it, but you must ask for it (it isn't out). The staff there are great. At night my kids use to sit down with one of the CM's & he would show them how they made decorations out of the fruit. My kids hung around more at the lounge & pool than anything else that trip ... we never went to a park. My DD's enjoyed going to the Neverland Club, we didn't use them as a babysitter, they just wanted to go there because it was "fun". During the day they had it opened & it was free for guests staying there. You had to stay with your child but they had arts & crafts & play area's open. Once they saw it, they wanted to go back at night to "have dinner". They use to also have the game room free for an hour a day. In the main lobby they have a CM that comes out & shows the kids how to make their own lei's & then they have cookies..fresh from Minnie's oven (so they told us). Oh, one important thing I forgot..... take me with you!!!!!! ;) As I said before, you will love it! That has to be our favorite deluxe resort we have stayed at....anywhere!

Please-Please-Please!!!

Report back to us and tell us how you liked it. I would love to hear about the hours and food offerings. We are going in August and can't wait. My kids love playing games and we were wondering if they have board games to play. I hope you have a great time.

Wow - I LOVE this site - thank you all SO much for your advice. We are SO excited. I will definately report back everything as I love reading trip reports, I know I will do the same for everyone else.

I am so glad to hear Neverland Club is open during the day if I am there. I saw pics and I know my DD would love it. She won't be quite 4 yet when we go so we will have to wait until the next trip for her to really go there at night. For the first time EVER, I may have trouble going to the parks, my DH loves the parks but he thinks I am nuts :rotfl: Now that I think about it, if I relax more on this trip maybe he will want to stay concierge all the time. Hmm - never thought of that. :rolleyes1

Thanks again for the numbers and websites. Tikiman's website is great too.

Oh, one more question....
For garden view do you recommend 1st or 3rd floor? I don't want to request 2nd - I know the lounge level would be nice but I would really like a little outdoor spot, esp if dd naps. I am thinking 1st but if the views are nice up on the 3rd, it may be worth it the stairs/elevator.

The garden view rooms face the quiet pool but I don't think you can see it from there. I would request 1st but that may just be me. We really loved staying on the first floor since my DSs could go out and sit without my worrying about the balcony. The balcony is rather high but my younger DS can be quite inventive. There are also ducks and rabbits that wander around the resort so having the 1st floor was neat for a close-up look.

The last time we visited, I surprised my wife by ordering Chocolate covered strawberries to be delivered before the fireworks. They arrived, exactly on time at 8:00PM. That had to be her favorite night at the resort. I recommend that you try them out. Talk to the concierge desk. You must order them 24 hours in advance.

Suzanne74: I was fortunate to stay at the Poly once but not concierge. You will love the Poly I am sure. I found it very helpful to stay at a monorail resort because it was much easier to wheel your stroller right onto the monorail than it is to fold it up and pack it onto the bus when going to MK. Have a GREAT trip!!! :wave2:

eeyoresmountainpals: I will be at the Poly on Oct. 22!!! I will not be in concierge though. I really wanted a lagoon view and could not afford that view at the concierge level. There is nothing like waking up in the middle of the night, sitting up in bed and seeing that beautiful castle!!! I will sleep with a smile on my face :lovestruc . I will be there with my DD 6 and DS 13. Maybe I will finally meet another Diser. I can't wait til Oct.!!! :cheer2:

We stayed GVC and requested 3rd floor non-smoking (half the floor is smoking optional) and were pleased that we got it. The lounge is actually 2-stories tall, with food on the 2nd floor and additional seating and boardgames on the 3rd. So having a 3rd floor room was great both for the balcony and also to access the lounge.

You and your family are going to have a magical time! :wizard:

Try http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/index.html for good info on the Poly including room number info for requesting a good view. I like rooms 3504-3515 in the Hawaii longhouse for great views of the MK. Nothing like waking up and opening the curtains in the morning to see the MK shimmering in the distance with a some mist rising off seven seas lagoon making it look like its just floating there. Sit on your balcony with a cup of coffee and read the paper while watching the watercraft go by.

You can also ask the concierge to put together a little something to put in the room at check-in for your DD to get her in the Disney mood, if you give them some idea of what you want and an indication of how much you would like them to spend. For example, if DD loves Minnie Mouse, they could put together a gift bag that has Minnie plush, a T-shirt, hat, etc. In our recent visit during the week before Easter, we asked them to put together Easter baskets for our kids and gave them an idea of the Disney characters they like and the types of items I would like in it. It was much nicer than buying a pre-made Easter basket from the shop at the resort.

Also, if there is a personalized item you would like that you could normally get at the parks, they can get it in advance and have it waiting for you in your room when you arrive. An example would be embroidered Mickey Mouse ears with DD's name on them. In our case, we asked them to order some WDW name badges (which we learned about from these boards) which we put on the kids when we went to CRT and other events with characters so that the characters would know their names.

Anyways, they can pretty much do anything as long as you are prepared to pay for it. You just have to ask.

Okay - I already LOVE poly concierge. I emailed them last night with my room preference and requested 2 character meals, one dinner the first night and another breakfast. This morning I wake up to a itineray planner for "The Smith Ohana" with all of our PS that we asked for and the one I already planned thru the CM on the phone!!
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I was encouraged to call them for anything and to have a safe trip!!
I am so excited I am going to burst - we told dd this morning and she almost fell off the bed from jumping up and down. She said "Minnie, I am coming to see you!!"

Okay so we put in for 1st floor with 3rd floor our second choice. Dh likes the first floors and it is easy for DD to run and play. I would probably prefer 3rd floor since the extra part of the lounge is up there and I love balconies. DH wanted to upgrade though so it his choice :teeth:

ONE MORE QUESTION :earseek:

Has anyone ever taken a baby monitor to concierge? I am thinking if we are only a few rooms down from the lounge area, it would be nice to go there when we put dd to bed. She is VERY easy to put to bed and easy to fall asleep but she does not fall asleep unless there is no one around. That is why I love 1 bdrms at OKW. For basic hotel rooms, I usually end up in the hall or balcony for a little while until she dozes off. It would be nice to have the lounge option, if the monitor worked. Does anyone know? That may change where I request a room. Thanks

I thought I saw this EXACT question come up earlier this month. Did a search and lo and behold:

(You really can pretty much get every question answered on these boards!)

Thanks for the link. It looks like it wouldn't work so I think we will just be hanging out on our balcony/patio. I just hope we don't get a 2nd floor. I will be sitting out on the hallway floor listening in the door. When people walk by, they think DH has kicked me out. :rotfl2:
