And it was yummy.

We had:
fried green beans
dim sum basket
shrimp lo mein
crispy mahi mahi
fried won tons
chocolate brownie sundae

All of it was very good.

I'm glad you liked it! The menu looks great - and a nice addition to AK.

Glad you liked it and can't wait to try it....

I will miss Tusker House though.

I took over 100 photos of the restaurant, that is the best part (all the artifacts, etc.) It'd be nice to have a wider menu variety, and some inside covering for the counter service area. Joe Rodhe was there opening day, I didn't introduce myself - but it was still terrific :)

Any info on the counter service menu?

Similar items to inside, I didn't even bother eating there (I was planning on reviewing one table service and one counter service). Just a lot fewer. And very uninspired desserts like chocolate cake and a chocolate chip cookie.

I will miss Tusker House too, but just to clarify Yak and Yeti is a new restaurant near Everest in Asia. It did not take the place of Tusker House. That new buffet is still to open in a few days, with a character breakfast too.

I just wanted to clarify as people have posted link to this reviews as being the "new" Tusker House. There are just too many new restaurants opening in AK at the same time.:)

I think all the desserts on the menu are pretty uninspired.

Why does cream cheese wontons just sound wrong?

Yes, they are. There is a mango pie, I didn't try it. But chocolate cake? cookie? I wasn't really impressed with that, it's just like everywhere else.

I'm waiting for someone to try the cream cheese wontons to see what the deal is.

Thanks for posting.

I looked up the dim sum basket to see what was in it..

Dim Sum Basket - Pork pot stickers, shrimp siew mai, cha su bao & pork siew mai steamed on a banana leaf and served with soy lime dipping sauce.

Mmmm.... sounds yummy!!! Gotta try that place!!

Isn't crab rangoon essentially a cream cheese wonton? If it's a dessert item I should think they'd sprinkle some sugar or cinammon on them (there's no crab in this case). Sounds pretty good to me.:)

Here in Texas we have a fast food joint like Taco Bell called Taco Bueno and they have cheese cake chimichangas. They are delicious but very appropriate for a fast food place--not a table service restaurant. Surely, the dessert we are speaking of would be several notches above our Taco Bueno dessert!!!

Yes... there's nothing strange about them. They're served at many Chinese restaurants I've been to. The ones at Yak & Yeti are most likely exactly like a crab rangoon, but without the crab.

Thats exactly what they are, and here in Miami, they come with a Duck Sauce you dip them in, and I get them for FREE since I order over 20 bucks worth of Food!:confused3 Now, why would I want to PAY for them, when I get them for FREE???:sad2: I am sure its the same thing!

We ate at Yak and Yeti and we liked it a lot. We split the pot stickers, I had the honey chicken and my husband, the shrimp tempura. The rice was wonderful - and then we had the fried wontons for dessert and they have honey on them and served with pineapple and strawberries and vanilla icecream on top, there may be carmel on there too, but it was very good, not my typical dessert. I am a chocolate nut!

As for the counter service: NOT recommended - we had the ss pork and I could nto eat it, in fact, we began calling that part YUCK AND YETI!
