Well I am not actually in Disneyland right now, but in my hotel, which is about a half mile from the entrance.
It's very early here, I think 4:45 and I have been up since about 3:15. I tried to fall back to sleep and finally gave up and came on here. My family isn't budging, lol!
We arrived here yesterday...we flew into the Orange County airport. It was a pretty good flight, a little long for me (6 hours!) but it actually went fairly quick. I was able to sleep a little but mostly I read, watched the inflight movie (Drillbit Taylor...it was ok, I had never heard of it) and reviewed our Disneyland plans (of course!)
The weather yesterday was perfect! Warm, but not too hot and no humidity!
I forget the name of the company we used to shuttle us here...I will have to ask my DH. We paid $76 for a private van and they brought us right to the hotel. Our driver was friendly and told us all about the area and even offered to stop at Del Taco for us after I mentioned never eating at one (we declined).
We are staying at the Marriot on Convention Way. It is nice...the room really much smaller than I imagined it would be but since my husband's company is paying for it, I really have no complaints. It has two beds, which is all my family really needs.
My husband has family in the area and his cousin works for Disney. He picked us up and took us to this really neat store, that is for cast members and their guests. I bought all my souvenirs, a few things for myself and a bunch of pins and spent less than $100! I am pretty sure that might end up being the coolest part of our trip. Everything in this store was marked down 50% to 75%. It isn't damaged, just stuff Disney doesn't want to sell anymore. I got this really cool sweatshirt that was originally $56 for $15! And a bunch of really cool pins for $3 each. And a bunch of other stuff.
We then went to Downtown Disney for dinner. We decided to eat at the Rainforest Cafe. There was an hour wait so we walked about the area and did some more shopping.
My husband bought me a very cool bear at the Build a Bear store and I dressed him up as Eeyore. Eeyore is my absolute favorite character!
Today is Disneyland's birthday and I tried to find out if they would have a special pin for it but the cast members I talked with weren't sure. There was nothing in their binder but the one had heard there is a pin coming out today so I will have to keep my eyes open. This binder they had was really cool, it showed all the pins coming out over the next several months!
Dinner was good...standard food...I wasn't really that hungry but ordered a burger anyway. Food was good, environment good, but we have a Rainforest at home too so we have experienced this before. My daughter ordered a pasta dish she didn't like and the waiter happily replaced it with another burger. It was good to meet some more of my husband's family and they were really very nice. It's too bad that we won't get to see them again this trip but they invited us to their house whenever we want to come out to visit, which of course sounds great to me because that means another trip to Disneyland!
Well I am going to go shower for the day...we are planning to leave here by 5:50 and walk to the Disney entrance which should take us about 20 minutes. We are going to experience Magic Morning at Disneyland this morning. We have dinner planned tonight at Goofy's Kitchen.
I will try to keep you updated...but it really depends on how well I can sleep in tomorrow or what time we get back tonight.
I have never been great at trip reports but I will do my best. I will post pictures when I get home.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer them.
Have a magical day!
