We are here - wow !! First visit - photos!

Glad you guys are having a great time. The Rosen Shingle is a 4 star hotel, it's a nice place. Where were you supposed to be staying? Your comment about driving made me giggle. My hubby is from the UK. He's been here 15 years now but I will never forget the first time he came here. He was driving all over the road! Now he thinks he's an expert. :rolleyes2

Loving all your pics!

Your nightmare journey in the dark, reminds me of our first visit back in 1990. It was dark then too and we ended up driving around for 4 hours, ended up outside the magic kingdom as I said the hotel was near there:rotfl2::rotfl2:.

Eventually we found it. It was somewhere in the 192 east, I think it has been knocked down now and there is major road over where it once stood.

I think many of us have done it.
Our first trip in 1993 was the same, we went with Airtours and re-fuelled in Bangor, Maine. Got there in the dark after inflight warning videos telling us about the dangers of driving in Florida. Scared to death we went from Dollar car rental (offsite on McCoy rd) towards Idrive/I4 heading to Hwy192. We missed both turnings and ended up terrified in a gas station. None of us (4 adults) wanted to go in and ask for directions so we all went in, the guy in there must have been more terrified than us when we all marched in:rotfl:
We told him our problem looking for a hotel opposite Old Town. I remember his response to this day "It's not your fault you are lost, it's us dumb *** (bleeped me out, another word for donkey) Americans that cant provide clear road signs"

Hahaha glad it wasn't just me then - i'm actually a pretty good driver, I passed my trailer test just a few years ago (so that I could pull my horse trailer - too young to have it on my license automatically) and they really make you earn it, Ive driven manuals and autos, 4x4s and drive quads and tractors too... But I was totally pants at American driving!!!
Partly due to the dark/lack of sleep but I think mainly because we couldn't figure out the road signs and lanes etc
Combine that with being on the wrong side of the road and traffic light/undertaking rules ( which I had prepared myself for ) and I was left feeling stoopid, scared and very over emotional.
The purchase of a satnav saved us getting divorced a week before we got married hahaha

We were supposed to be at the Rosen inn - cheap and cheerful for our first night but got transferred to the the Rosen shingle creek - it's much posher sister hotel :)

My tattoos are many and varied but the visible ones are a vampire Disney Cheshire Cat wrapped around my right wrist.
A full left sleeve Halloween tattoo, incorporating moon, bats, ghosts, witch flying, the grim reaper, a cript, grave stone (one with a green zombie hand coming out ) and owl a witches cat, grave yard gates, a spooky tree and it is bottomed and topped with stiching to make it look like it was sewn on.
Left wrist - a vampire bite and the word jaded.
The chest piece I had done for the wedding and it sits just above the neckline of the dress- it is a bleeding red rosé with a skull at the centre and pretty grey filigree pattern either side.
The one that runs up my left leg is just a tribal/henna type pattern with goes up my whole left side
My right ankle is a jelly beam ankle braclet (after my Rottweiler x called jellybean passed away) with 3 charms hanging from it - one is a monkey wrench as a memorial to our pet marmoset who passed away last year and the other 2 are the initials 'I' and 'G' the first letters of my daughters names - India and Grace :)
Lol and they are just the ones that you can see ;)

Loving the tattoos.......you are so beautiful. Can't wait to see your wedding outfits, are you actually getting married in Disney?
Your daughters probably can't believe their luck having such a cool mum! :cool2:

Lol

My DD would love to do that!
Is it still warm enough for shorts and t shirts? Or do I need to re-pack?;)

Deffo shorts and tshirts - maybe a light jacket on an evening (though just me out of my little family that does that as I'm cold blooded.
The aircon inside is always quite chilly so I have my jacket with me for rides/meals etc
Yesterday was overcast due to hurricane Sandy going past but absolutely none of the rain that was forecast - kids have done the pool each afternoon to cool down :)

Thanks guys :)
Was a lovely day at animal kingdom yesterday - had an amazing lunch and Yak and Yeti? It was a walk in and I hadn't remembered reading about it - but it was by far the nicest meal we've had at Disney and we have been happy with all of them.
We had a chill out evening last night, dinner at Olivia's sat outside and watched an amazing sunset (with complimentary champagne as they had heard we were getting married? We didn't mention it - but it was nice) then the kids were tired so hubby-to-be and I went to DTD for a few hours and a few drinks and some lovely 'us' time - bought them both a teddy though as I felt guilty lol but they didn't mind at all (aged 13 and 9)
We are having a traditional Sunday morning lie-in now and then hitting a water park I think?
Tomorrow is universal day topped off with their Halloween horror night - I know that my youngest is younger than the recommended age... But we are not your average family lol
A pic from last night :)

I love the idea of having to cool down - we have got the heating on over here. Can't wait to get a bit of sunshine.:thumbsup2
