We are staying in the Roy on our next cruise, first time concierge ever, fifth Disney cruise. My sister and her husband are coming and they are not staying concierge. Our reservations are linked. Are they able to book excursions with us? Do they have to wait until it is their turn and book on their own? (I am worried they will be booked by then) We want to explore together.
Also, if we choose to eat dinner in our room can they join us? Even if we choose to eat Palo in our room?

as far as excursions go, they would have to wait till their window opened to be able to book. when their window opens you would be able to book for everyone but not until.

OP's are correct. But if either of those can't help maybe the concierge staff on the boat can help if the other party is only 2. I've had pretty good luck with request thru them. Also if you are nice about it the other group in your party may be able to attend some of the special Concierge only events.

Thank you for the responses, does anyone else have any first hand experience with this? My sister and her husband will be spending most of their time with us, we are travelling together as we always do (my parents, myself, my two children). They will be in our room quite a bit, we have never had an opportunity to stay in a suite, never mind a royal suite! We want to make the most of this room because we may not have another shot at it.
I will see what concierge can do in terms of excursions, I would be sad if we could not go together as this is our first time in Tortola and St. Thomas. Maybe there will be space at the 90 day mark. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I think you should be fine on excursions even booking at the 90 day mark. I will say we have people traveling with us this time that are not concierge and we were able to book our Remy and Palo dinners with them at the 120 day mark as well as get the family cabana for all us.

I have been in this same situation. We were concierge & my in laws were not. They could not book their excursions until their window opened, although I didn't try asking shoreside concierge for their help in changing this. I would suspect that you would be fine ordering them food from the MDRs though. I don't see how room service would know or even ask who the food was for. I suggest talking with your concierge host right after you board the ship, at the concierge reception, & explain your situation & ask exactly what your non-concierge family may or may not do with you. I would imagine they would do everything within their power to accommodate your requests, although some things may be out of their hands.

The main restaurants and Palo are ordered through the concierge team not through room service. I would talk to the onboard team once you get to the reception. We were in the family suite connected to my parents 1 bedroom suite and were told last April that are only suppose to order from the restaurants for those in the suites but they did it anyway.

For the excursions, my parents are platinum which get to book with concierge and we are gold. The only thing they could book with us was the cabana. Everything else would not allow my husband and I to be added too. But I agree with other email shoreside. They are super nice and get back to you pretty quickly.

Princess Schmoo (I am the OP) and am not sure if you are asking me or the person that wrote that comment but my sister is a Silver Castaway member. I emailed my travel agent and she confirmed with Disney that they can book excursions at 90 days and we can book at 120 days. She also advised we check with shoreside as it doesn't hurt to ask. We will just cross our fingers that there is still room on the excursions we choose.
I am sure the excursion thing is out of their hands as these are booked way ahead of time. I am hopeful that they can join us for dinner in our suite as we plan on utilizing the Palo benefit for dinner often.

Are they first time cruisers?

They are. We were not able to book any of their extras like spa, etc. But we did get them listed as dining with us, included on Palo & Remy rezzies, and got them looped into our cabana. Like others recommended, I would definitely ask shoreside to see what they can and cannot do.

I was asking the person whose quote I used.

We have always ordered our MDR breakfasts through room service. We have never ordered lunch or dinner though. Perhaps those have to be ordered from concierge?

I was just on a Fantasy cruise that one family memebr of a 171 person family reunion was in the Walt right next to us. I saw in more than one occasion they rolled in carts with full pans of breakfast like from Cabanas. Just explain our situation to concierge in your welcome meeting and they will be able to help you out.
This cruise I also traveled with non-concierge(2 aged DCL rookies). I can't guarantee this but here is what they did for my other party.
- book 2 excursions onboard with both parties - they allowed the other party attend the special character meeting - they even allowed they to come to a couple of the happy hours.

They will help out with basically any reasonable request.

Well--let me rain on this parade. My view is that if you are NOT Concierge and not paying for Concierge then you should not get any benefits from Concierge--family members or not!!

Now Concierge will do whatever they do but if I saw non-Concierge guests in the Lounge drinking and eating I believe I would have to say something!!

We are staying in the Roy on our next cruise. ... if we choose to eat dinner in our room can they join us? Even if we choose to eat Palo in our room?

I have stayed in the Roy with a total of two passengers, and had 3 other passengers that were in a standard room in for Palo dinner in the suite. The concierge did say that the in-room MDR and Palo was supposed to be only for people staying in the suite, but that they'd make an exception. I didn't have to push it at all. My impression was that it all comes down to reasonableness: the Roy has a dining room table that seats 6, so I think as long as you don't try to order in for more than 6 people, it would be considered reasonable. Also, on the newer ships, the royal suites sleep at most 5 passengers, but the dining room table seats 8. What is the purpose of having an 8-top table in the suite if you can't order in dinner for up to 8 people, where at least 3 of them would have to be from another room?

I agree with that in general, except for the in-room dining as I described above. I think it would be inappropriate for anyone not in a concierge room to use the lounge, sundeck, or consume things like free soft drinks in the room in large quantities (or remove them at all).

On a side note, this was done with the approval of the concierge staff. No cold walk ins. They were asked first with the other party not present to guilt them into it. <wink> Plus they did remember me from the 4 other times I stayed with them

Just got back today from the Fantasy, maybe I can help a bit. We had a concierge room and were traveling with my sister's family and my mother, who were not concierge. After linking our reservations, we WERE able to book excursions for all eight of us at 120 days out. The only restriction was that it had to be an excursion that we, the concierge room, were a part of. In other words, I couldn't have booked a zip-line tour for my sister when we were snorkeling, but I was able to book the snorkeling excursion for all of us. Same held true with Palo and Remy reservations. I was able to book a table for all four adults at 120 days. But, Remy was date night for DH and I, and I was not able to book a separate reservation for my non-concierge family on a different date. We were able to reserve one cabana under all of our names, but I could not have reserve two. The shoreside concierge team was incredibly helpful with all this. I suggest emailing them about your situation as soon as possible so that they can link your reservations and answer any questions you have, that way you'll know exactly what to do when the 120 day window opens and you send your requests.

I don't know about in-room dining, we never did it. We did have family in our room now and then, but I don't see how that's a problem. We never brought anyone into the lounge or on the sundeck.
