The Marylin Manson interview was a riot though

I know Manson and Johnny are like best buddies..but I thought it was quite tasteless actually..but then I don't like Manson anyway.

The park brochure opened up to this poster.


Disneyland - June 24, 2006 6:30am - 5:00pm

Well, that is what it said on the signs at the park's entrance. In reality, Disneyland opened that early, and Frontierland, Adventureland, Critter Country, and of course, New Orleans Square closed at 3pm. The rest of the park closed at 8:00pm.

Everyone who entered got a brochure and a pin.

Celebrities entered through the Main Street parade entrance, walked around Town Square, and this sign greeted them as they headed down Main Street.

New Orleans Square was blocked off, and bleachers were set in in sections to watch the huge screen set up on Tom Sawyer's Island

We were seated across from the people doing the MSN podcast, near the Hub

We were also entertained by pirates juggling and singing

The media gets ready -- we were near reporters for E, magazines, Disney in Motion ...

Some cast members handed out pirate hats to those lucky enough to get close enough to get one. Ginarella & her daughters, and KPeterso were lucky enough to get a hat

This pirate was great. He had a little crystal ball he rolled around his hand & told us he could see our future -- that we would see Johnny Depp that evening!

These pirates sang a song about Captain Jack Sparrow, led us in Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates Life for Me, & then had us do the Pirates Pledge - they were very talented! (Be sure to click on the links to see the video clips I took - it may take awhile cuz I had those videos are a bit big)

The celbrities then started coming down the carpet. There were many dressed in pirate outfits, and others who weren't. There were sports figures, actors, producers, and Disney dignitaries. Lesley recognized a lot of them (especially the Disney figures!), we got the sports figures from others in the crowd. I tried to get pics, but being 5' tall, and behind excited teens made it ... um ... challenging. Governor Schwarzenegger didn't make it down as far as us, so I didn't get to snap his pic (darn it).

The media was crowded and so many lights were flashing -- It was Orlando & Johnny

By the time Johnny Depp & Orlando Bloom were approaching, the red carpet walk was really behind schedule. It was already after 9pm, and they should have already ridden the ride and been up in the bleachers watching the beginning of the movie. They were approaching Coke's Corner, and the CMs appeared to be discussing whether they should just cut to Adventureland, or continue on the red carpet (there was a lot of hand gesturing). They finally decided to let them continue on the red carpet, but since so much time had been spent already greeting people and signing autographs (there was even a rumor that Johnny Depp had been mobbed-but not sure if that was true), they literally rushed past us, and the following was the best photo I could get.

We tried to follow along and capture another photo of them, but then they escaped, and we were in a crowd of people leaving the park. I tried to see Ginarella & family and KPeterso, but couldn't see them, and we just followed the crowd out -- we were literally hobbling (or, at least I was).

We saw a bunch of other people, and most of them were identified by us, the youngsters, the sports fans, etc., but there is no way I could take everyone's picture. Still, I have some that I haven't shared here.

It was a fun day, and my only regret is that I didn't say goodbye to my new DIS friends.

I think that if they have the third Pirates Premiere there (and I'm sure they will), my dd will want to be there, and I'd advise her to stake her spot at the front of the red carpet and hopefully be able to see all the stars. I thought we had pretty decent spots, but I saw a lot of people between taller people's shoulders, so that was a bit of a strain.

thanks for sharing. We arrived to day and only hit DCA. Tomorrow we are onto DL to try to ride Pirates but if it is crazy will just wait for another day. I almost felt like I was there with you guys looking at your great photos.

Especially the videos. Thanks so much Mary Jo. They really give you a feel for what it must've been like. They sure made it fun for you guys!!

Oh, and we got a picture of Johnny, part of his face and hand and Orlando waving in the background. We were happy about that.

Yes, that's Jerry Rice in the gray suit -- arguably the greatest wide receiver of all time. He spent most of his career with the 49ers.

Really great photos Mary Jo; thank's for sharing! On the group shot of the 4 of you, could you identify who's who left to right --- I'm thinkin' I know most of you all by now, but not quite sure.

Hearing how long it took Johnny and Orlando down to the Tomorrowland entrance where I was standing makes me so happy I gave up around 8:30 and headed out. I actually had little problem getting close enough down on Main St. to get a good close-up with my camcorder of both guys. Never saw Keira, though.

Overall, the experience was fun--never been to a red-carpet before, but wasn't worth staking out a spot at 6:30 am like so many other people did. I got to my spot around 5:30 pm and was only 5 people back from the front. Have to agree that it got REALLY tough to see the celebs by 8:15 when the sun was setting. Too bad those lights weren't around the entire carpet.

My kids got home today from their vacation (they were supposed to come home last night, but had plane delays).

My ds was impressed at me seeing Keira Knightly AND Christina Applegate -- his eyes popped open, lol.

My dd told me that her two friends (one totally in love with Orlando since his elf days) staked out a spot by the Main Street Train Station and got a picture w/Orlando Bloom & autographs by Orlando & Johnny Depp - they didn't mention Keira Knightly, though. I'm sure those girls are still on cloud 9
