We are all Americans BUT

NYers aren't rude, they're honest, impatient and sarcastic. I'd rather someone tell me Up Yours in my face than Bless yo Heart and lie and THINK Up Yours.

I have to agree.

These were interesting to read. Basically everything about AZ is true. Just add a looney for a governor. :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

New Mexico - No man's land - but gorgeous scenery!
California - Fitness, hollywood, sunshine and palm trees
Washington/Oregon - Hippies and coffee
Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas/Nebraska/SD/ND - Die hard republicans...weather inthusiasts. Bible belt
Southern states (TN, GA, SC, NC, ect) - cassaroles, friends, gossip, ect!
Northeast/New England -Chowda, seafood, broadway, shopping,
Hawaii - Destination. GORGEOUS beachs and volcanoes.
Alaska - Untouched beauty.

:thumbsup2

It's a given that you can always get a rise out someone over which is better, New York or "Chicago" style pizza. ;)

I've found it all depends on what you grew up with. A lot of native Southerners think pulled pork is great. I just can't get used to it.

I think this thread is a hoot! I feel bad for those that took any posts personally. It is just perceived notions, not realities. Really loved reading every post!!! I hope it can continue w/o hostility and anyone feeling insulted. Come on we all know it isnt factual.

We ALL make the world go round.:grouphug:

I live in NY, we used to have this restaurant called Chicago Pizza Pub - it was THE best!! ;)

nevada-lots of california retirees who sought lower home prices, cheaper alcohol and tobacco, and casinos where alcohol is served free of charge on the gaming floors:rotfl:

You forgot legal prostitution (ps I'm from Nevada)

Rude bad drivers in California??? Yup you must have visited Nor Cal. Sorry you probably got passed by me on the freeway before I had my son! :rotfl2:

Nevada:hot with too many smokers and gamblers
Oregon: Hate Californians
Washington: Pretty but a little strange
Massachusetts: bad drivers

Washington--granola, "live and let live"
Texas--cowboys
Maine--Moby Dick--everyone in slickers
Minnesota---most northern of the accents
Idaho--does anyone live in Idaho?
California--new age

It's funny--I'm from OKLA and someone asked me once if we all lived in Teepees!:rotfl2:

Its funny, I'm from Montana and we get asked if we ride horses to school occasionally by out of state-ers. It is also very cold, but where I'm going to college we have not had our first snow of the year yet, and it's mid-october. Its been actually rather pleasant.

Last year in my hometown it snowed in early June...

And the cowboy perception is somewhat true. My dad is a half-cowboy (meaning he has another job and has horses/the whole cowboy get-up). He and a buddy once rode our horses to the local bar and tied them up to a stop-sign, the horses tied on a stop-sign ended up in a tourist magazine :lmao:

Perceptions of other states
New Jersey-Rude/pushy (been to WDW during Jersey week once, have not encountered a manner-filled one yet)
Tennessee-All have Forrest-Gump type accents
Wisconsin-Cheese
Minnesota-Vikings
North Dakota-Accents (all my ND relatives have the accent, it shows up in my mom from time to time too)
New York-non-social, always in a hurry
Wyoming=Boring
Colorado=snowy
Georgia-snooty

I know Florida is not known for it's hicks. But there's a McD's in Davie (which used to be a BIG hick town), that has a corral at the back of the building. Several buildings along the main road were actually made with horses in mind. And there's a very popular rodeo just off that road.

I'm remembering way back to the time I spent out in Washington and a local, after learing I was from New York, asked if I had ever seen a tree or a cow before coming to Washington. He was dead serious thiking all of New York was concrete and skyscrapers.

in kentucky and westvirginia and alabama they like their cousins a little bit too much

Southern States = Love to tell you how much nicer and more polite they are than all other states. Which isn't very polite;)

:

Well, bless your heart.... (;)GA):rotfl:- there is a little truth to that, especially with elderly women here....

I live in Utah and don't know any plygs personally, although DH did run into Kody Brown the other day.

I think one of my biggest misconceptions about another state is thinking that New York is all city. You hear "New York" and you think skyscrapers and the Empire State Building. But there's a "New York State" too that's another world away from that.

I also think "New Jersey" and think of the Sopranos (which I'm not sure is correct since I never watched that show, so I don't know why the association is in my head, but whatev) and Snookie and her loser friends from that one show (which I also don't watch, but my niece always has on TV when I visit).

Lol, you have no idea how many times I was asked if there were trees in NY. Whenever asked I'd remind them of the book:

I absolutely love the cowboy stereotype Texas still carries. I hope it lasts. that will keep so many dang people from moving here. We'll keep it under our hat that Austin is full of tech companies, musicians and college students.
