WDWMAGIC has insider info on BK

Woo.. this is great news. I think Steve has a good track record on rumors.

On a related note... People have been speculating that an announcement would be made at the press event on October 1st. Now that this has been postponed, I wonder if they will still make any "new attraction" announcements on October 1st?

Very encouraging. I've started to take for granted something will actually get done here, and anxiously await confirmation of the land and scope of the effort.

If they were only months from an official announcement is it plausable they have not settled on a land yet?
very seriously being looked at
This would imply there is another proposed land in the running. How far along in the development process would they take a concept before settling on it?

Since BK was in the orginal plan and must have some design work already in the can, and I don't hear any big outcry against it, why would there even be a decision here. What would make BK no longer attractive as the next logical AK expansion?

.

Steve is very careful not to post unsubstantiated rumors, so there must be something tangible there for him to mention it on the site. Keep in mind that Disney has in the past "looked at things" and then changed their minds, so even if there is interest it doesn't necessarily mean they'll go forward with it full steam. There are always lots of plans on the board, but this one seems the most over-due. I too will be looking forward to his follow-up in the days to come. The possibility is exciting to say the least.

Wow, wow, wow, wow!!

Yes, I agree about Steve not posting unsubstantiated rumors. This new info on BK seems very interesting. He says that the budget for the Eticket alone is excess of $120 million!!!!!!
Check it out.

I agree. It's disheartening as a stockholder to see great rides being built off of mediocre movies. It's great for the parks to have rides like "Dinosaur!" but it's a real let down when the film tanks.

Yes I would also agree about needing to have a movie tie in. After all, Haunted Mansion and Pirates have no movie tie in and they are still great attractions. In fact, thats part of what makes these attractions so timeless!

On the other hand. If thats what it takes to get this new land/ride opened in AK then I guess its better than not getting it at all.

Is it just me, or does reign of fire not look like a good movie?

With lord of the rings, dungeons and dragons, and harry potter all coming out, will this movie seem like an "also ran"?

The story sounds like the old 70s film "gargoyles." Maybe once I see a trailer I will be impressed - sorry to sound pessimistic.

I hope something gets added to AK.

Given the length of time it would take to build this, its just as likely that (like Dinosaur) the name of the ride or parts of the themeing could change based on the success of the movie. Personally I'd rather have a medival looking theme then a modern one.

"With lord of the rings, dungeons and dragons, and harry potter all coming out, will this movie seem like an "also ran"?"

Dungeons and Dragons came out some time ago (already on DVD) and nobody saw it, so I don't think this movie will suffer for it. I think it's coming out in the spring, so the big crowds for LOTR and HP should be dying down. Bottom line - if it's good, that won't matter.

Doug, I agree with the Idea that if its good, it won't matter.
LotR and HP have the potential to envigorate the Fantasy movie genre. Reign of fire if good could do quite well. at the same time, IF LotR is as good as it seems and Harry Potter is at all Watchable, Reign of fire will have 0 leeway. If LotR and HP are bad, then it has no chance Either. All in All, it seems like a risky movie to make. Pearl Harbor was not a risky movie to make and they blew it. Lets hope Reign is better then that.

It's about darn time!!! I would have to see a preview of Reign of Fire before I make a comment on the new ride.

For my family, building BK with a really creative "thrill" ride is the difference in our visiting or not visiting again. My kids have placed AK at the end of their wish list. Something like Reign of Fire (Or whatever) would bring us back, just like TOT always takes us to MGM, and now Spiderman brings us back to IOA. Build a cutting edge, "Wow" attraction and we are there!

The AK is such a special idea, I really want my family to want to go. It's one really special attraction short.

The other thing I would like to see is another great full service restaurant. Dinosaurus and similar doesn't really cut it for us. I always like to take the time for one full, sit down meal in a creative restaurant. It also helps us with my son who is diabetic. We have to come all the way back to the entrance for the Rainforest Cafe, and I would like to be able to find one somewhere inside the park.

They should also be announcing plans for Mickey's Philharmagic 3-D show and Figment's Journey into Imagination.
