WDWFigment's August 2009 Photo Trip Novel

I agree. If you look at my slideshow, you'll notice that it is mostly shots of the kids. I also included several lame shots that were meaningful to us even if they weren't particularly good shots. I will say, though, that your wife is much better looking than you are, so you should include more shots of her rather than you. :lmao:

I noticed that from your trip report, as well. Some of the shots here are actually inspired by your TR (specifically, the shots of Sarah on Test Track come to mind).

As for Sarah being much better looking than me, hey...come on...okay, you're right. But she is far less sarcastic than me, and isn't that the true measure of 'beauty'? :confused3 In any case, there should be more pictures of her than of me. At least I thought there were...

That's why you need a Smugmug account. Unlimited bandwidth. As a Disboard photography celebrity, you owe it to your fans.

I actually just found that Photobucket offers free pro accounts for a year if you complete one of those scam site offers (free trial of some crappy service that no one needs and is extremely difficult to cancel and $99/month after your free trial ends!). I completed the offer, canceled my free trial, and now have a free year of photobucket.

If Smugmug would make me an offer like that, I certainly would get an account! It seems miles above photobucket (which I only using for hosting of images for eBay and trip report images, usually). The money thing is the real roadblock. If I am a celebrity around here, I'm sure it's only for my ramblings about not renting lenses. Somehow that isn't quite analogous to your position of 'Beneficent Leader Who Writes Wonderful How-To Guides'.

Last year I sold calendars and a few other assorted things on CafePress, maybe I will revive that and put the proceeds towards a Smugmug account.

Nice shots and an interesting report.

Thanks for reading!

Your pictures are fabulous! If mine turn out 1/2 as good I'll be thrilled!:thumbsup2

Tom i am enjoying your trip novel!:rotfl:
I am getting a D90 for my birthday next month and was just wondering the weight of the camera was a hassel when in the parks? Beautiful pictures btw!:thumbsup2

Thanks! There are definitely plenty of folks around here whose images and expertise far surpass mine.

Thanks for reading. I didn't mind carrying around the D90, 4 lenses, other accessories, and a tripod all day everyday, but then again, I am a physically fit male. Sarah, who is also in very good shape, didn't 'enjoy' carrying around the D40 and a bag with a poncho and some other stuff in it. So I guess what I'm saying is your mileage may vary as far as the recommendation as to its 'carry-ability' in the parks.

I absolutely loved this TR... You got a lot of amazing pictures... I like how you got so many pictures of you two without anyone in the pic... That is awesome... You can claim you rented to park all for yourselves :lmao: That shot you got on Pg 1 in the rear view mirror of the safari bus is great... very creative, you need a thumbs up for that one :thumbsup2 I am hopes to get a tea cup picture like you have of Sarah on pg 2... I have never ridden those cause they make me ill, but I am going to brave it this year and try to get the shots I want... I also like the shot that is right below that one, the one with Main Street all Blurry, but Sarah is in focus at the bottom... That is a great idea... Shows the street as busy really busy, and life stops around her... Good choice of shot! :goodvibes

I could keep going, but I will stop now.. All in all, great TR!

Great report. Very entertaining and fun (and funny). I've never done a full trip report, just a small food report last year and we're planning a big food report for our trip next week. Might have to expand to include a full trip report if I can find the time. Though my photos won't be nearly as good - older camera, and I'm only taking one lens this time to force myself into new perspectives (a 35mm f2.8 macro Pentax black - mucho excited to try it out!).

I also have to agree that Sarah is better looking. Sorry. :) (My wife is better looking than me, too. But hey - it's a good problem to have! lol)

The only thing you won't be able to get as well is the dark ride shots. That's the only thing that the technology really assists with. I like the idea of only taking one lens to force your eye for composition, but I don't think I could do it myself. If there was a shot I just couldn't get (say, one of the UWA shots), I would be thinking about that until our next trip. It might drive me crazy.

I really enjoyed your report and photos! Thanks for posting it. I wish I could see the Exif infor for every shot so I could leqarn a thing or two. Something about Photobucket lately, sometimes you can see the Exif w/ a reader/software and other times you can't. I could see the Exif in the first couple of posts and the rest was not available. Anyway, I enjoyed your report and the photos!:goodvibes

Tom, when you begin your "post close" night shooting at one of the parks (i.e. the MK) and you start all the way back at Frontierland and work your way to the front of the park, do you get any harrassment from CMs along the way? If so, how do you handle it so you are still able to get all of those awesome empty park shots without them pushing you out?

We get harassed sometimes (thought rarely). Luckily, I am firm (but polite) and Sarah is a downright charmer. If they do push us out, it's only out of one land, and then we just start in another. I think the key, though, is Sarah. They rarely are pushy once she engages them in conversation.

Thanks for reading! Most of the static shots will eventually be posted on Flickr, and all of the EXIF should be there.

I wouldn't except for the fact that this is our 3rd trip in the last 12 months (season pass holders now) and we only live 2 hours away. We're only going for four days this trip so I thought I try it out and see how it goes. I've got tons of shots at other focal lengths already, why not try something new? Not like we won't be back. (Lord willin' and the crick don't rise!) :cool2:

Loved the photos and your report! Thanks for the tip about buying pins on ebay to trade at the parks. I had never considered doing this before, but think I'll head right over there!

If we only lived two hours away, I might give that a try, too!

Thanks for reading! We ended up paying approximately $1/pin for 100 pins via eBay versus, what, $6/pin minimum in the parks?

Great picture album :). I love all the photo's and I added one of your tomorrowland photo's as my computer background and I made all the other ones as my screensaver. I wish I can take pictures like that. I hope to see more soon. :)

Thanks for looking! If you need any full size shots, let me know.

Just finished reading your report. You've got quite a knack for words. It was a very fun read.

I can sympathize with tripod issues. When we were there in June, I had somehow left the piece that screws to the camera and hooks to the ballhead (I'm sure there's a technical name for that, I just don't know it.) hooked to our camcorder and in the room one night when I was going to try to get the great Wishes photos :headache:.

Are you going to post more pictures here?
