WDW with twin 18mth olds

First timer here...a few questions...Has anyone stayed at the All Star resorts with twins? I've seen pictures of the rooms, they look pretty small to fit 2 pack-n-plays in. I was thinking of taking guard rails and having sleep in bed with us. Any advice? Also, we have a side by side stroller but it's pretty cumbersome to fold and carry (when boarding bus to/from park) I was thinking of buying 2 umbrella strollers and a "connector" piece you can buy to push both at the same time (if desired) Any thoughts?

We are planning on staying 7-10 days so I'm hoping to not be too rushed.

Any advice or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

I would probably just have them in bed with you if that's somethign you are comfortable doing. My dd always seems to end up in our bed when we are travelling anyway. I don't normally worry about a bedrail, unless they are very wild sleepers, they will probably be just fine.

I haven't tried the stroller connectors, but wouldn't fancy a big double on the bus.

Hi!! Welcome to the Dis!! We have twins, and tried the stroller connector things...found they snapped apart if you weren't pushing a) straight ahead 2) on a perfectly smooth surface Two pack and plays will fit - it would be a little cramped, but one by the table, and one over by the closet wall should be OK...you can rent rails from www.abbf.com strollers too...we found we were glad we DIDN'T have our side by side stroller - too big to handle easily on the buses...we pushed one bed - just the mattress, the box spring is attached to the floor - over the 18inches to the wall, and let the kids sleep sideways on the bed...got some extra pillows from housekeeping, and made a "rail" at the bottom of the bed...worked great We ended up renting single strollers in the parks every day, easier for us ,each to have one to push, and the kids couldn't poke each other If you do stay at AllStars, book a room in the preferred sections, closer to food, buses, and pools! I'm glad we're not the only ones who always have to rearrange the furniture - LOL

I am just trying to understand how you pushed the mattress over but not the box spring, didn't the mattress sag? Did you have the box spring sticking out so it was like a step? I have often pushed the bed against the wall at various hotels, but haven't had to deal with an attached base before so you've got me puzzled.

We borrowed bed rails from our resort several years ago. We always stay at the Wilderness Lodge, but I would think you could get bed rails at all the resorts, not just deluxe. We had no problem, just had it on the ressie and mentioned it again at check in.

As for the stroller, we didn't have twins but found the dragging on busses of the regular stroller worth it for our dd to be in her regular stroller that she was used to. Ours was more comfortable than the rentals and we had it for non-park times, such as resort hopping, Ddowntown Disney, etc.

Sounds like you've got the right attitude though, plenty of time and just relax and let the vacation happen for you. We took our dd first at 22 months, not really expecting her to get much out of it, just wanted to go ourselves. She took a bite out of WDW! She had a great time and we had 10 rolls of film of her little face looking amazed at all things Disney. Have fun!

I have not done the trip with twins, but in May, we'll be taking our 4y/o DD, and 23 month old twin DD's. We decided to stay off property, primarily because of the space issue.

I appreciate the advice about the strollers. Does anyone else have advice for parents of twins? Has anyone seen any discounts for twins?

We just returned from Pop Century Value Resort with our 12 month old twins and our two year old (and our older dds)

We got connecting rooms and honestly there was barely room in each room for one pack and play 18 month olds I bet will be more comfortable with sleeping in the beds, our 12 month olds slept one in a bed with me and one with dh. You can get rails from guest services. Our beds at pop century were NOT moveable.

Also, we opted to purchase a lighter weight side by side for this trip and got a brand new Peg Perego Aria Twin off ebay for a good price, it has more than paid for itself. It worked wonderfully and very lightweight, reclines nicely. We used it a ton and now has become our favorite stroller (weighs about 10 pounds and has a carrying handle). I also am not a fan of the stroller connectors when doing alot of pushing.

Renting in the parks never works for us because just getting them from the bus to the stroller rental place is too much of a hassle without a stroller

You and the babies will have a great time, relax, dont plan too much and you will do great. This was our first stay at a value resort and while there was alot less room, having the food court was really nice with the little ones.

Wish I had known about the bed rails at the resorts...actually, wish I'd known about the DIS BEFORE our first trip

And, yep, the boys had their own "step" into the bed, BevS97..and the mattress didn't sag - that we noticed, anyway The problem for us was that even if we had the rails, and the boys slept the "right" way in the bed, they still would have shoved each other out...sleeping sideways gave them extra space to stretch...I think our mousekeeper was a little puzzled every morning though...we just left extra tips - bless her, she moves that mattress back every morning!! (even though we left a note asking her not too!! )

I have twin girls now age 8, but we have taken them to Disney when they were 1 yr and up.
First of all.. I would I personally have the twins sleep with the older sibling with bed rails that you can request from housekeeping. I would much rather do that then 2 play and packs in in a All Star Room. Just for the size of the room.

When we took our twins - we always had our side by side. The only time it was a real pain was getting onto the buses or when the monorail was packed and we had to fold it up.
Some of the shops caused problems just because the area is narrow.

I never did the connectors for the 2 umbrella strollers, my concern would be if they would be comfortable. Will they want to nap while waiting in line ??

Another twin mom here! Our boys will be 6 in 8 days and we have taken them many times. We also have a 10 year old daughter.

We always used the umbrella strollers. We had a side-by-side and a front-back but for DW we always took the light, cheap umbrella strollers. I liked the umbrella strollers because they were easy to take on the busses, easy to push through the crowds and stores. We could also separate the boys. With the attached strollers they could "bug" each other too much! I know a lot of people don't like the umbrella strollers because they are uncomfortable for naps. Our kids did not nap much at the park. Since we stayed on site, we always went back to the room for breaks. They usually fell asleep on the bus!

We started doing WDW when our twin dds were 22 months. I bought a side-by-side umbrella. It was easy to colapse to get on the bus. Our girls were in todler beds at that time, so we each took one girl in bed with us.

We tried the seperate stroller thing, but found it to be a real pain. The umbrella stroller made numerous trips to WDW, especially since dd#3 was born when the twins were 3.

Add up what the rental strollers will cost you. You'll be better off either bringing your own, or buying a new lightweight stroller!
