WDW with arthritis

The gutter crutches definitely look like what my therapist was describing. Yikes! I don't know that I am that coordinated. Thanks so much for your help! This is going to be an interesting journey.:confused3

If you do get the crutches, try practising with them before you go, so you've got a feel for them and know how much walking you can do on them before you need to take a break. Have you had any more thoughts on the ECV front :moped:?

Good luck!

I checked out the info from the FAQ section here. It looks like it would be very easy to acquire a rental. If I am able to make the trip prior to surgery, I am able to walk short distances in my walking cast/boot currently. I am not able to stand for any length of time though. I need the crutches for after the procedure, since I will be non-weight bearing for up to 8 weeks. Taking a short trip would definitely be good for lifting my spirits since I am the type to always be up and running and the prospect of being immobile for a length of time is overwhelming.:flower3:

I decided to do PT until we go,see the specialist next week and see what he says-maybe a round of steroids will help? I got a stretching device I have to use daily. I am taking my knee brace, ice pack, heating pad and cane. I have a sleep study on Friday. If I get CPAP I may need an entire bag for medical crap.

Kind of off topic but just to let you know if your flying that the bag you use for your CPAP can't be counted as a regular carry on. It's Medical Equipment which is not treated as a carry on.

And for those that feel the ECV would help you but don't want looks. Trust me get the ECV and enjoy your trip. The pain afterwards is much worse then the looks of ignorant people. Last trip my Mom and I shared a ECV. She has her issues and I have RA. Yes we could both walk but we would have payed for it during the nights. Made our vacation more pleasant sharing the ECV.

Kmjmom, I know they say that laughter is the best medicine, but I think Disney is an even better one. If you possibly can, then go for that holiday, bask in the sun and the magic and speed on by any ignorant fools who decide to give you 'The Look' :moped:!

I SO agree Onelittlespark! I am going to do my best to make it work. I haven't said anything to my DD yet though. Then I have to break it my DH who just doesn't get the attraction DD and I have for Disney! If she and I travel together it is the most relaxing. :cloud9:
