We leave for Disney in 17 days and I literally (as in this morning) just found out I'm pregnant! This is our DD's (14 months) first trip, so we're already planning on a different kind of trip. No crazy rides, afternoon naps, slower pace. I guess my question is, just how much will this change my plans? And do you have any "Disney while pregnant" tips for me? Thanks in advance!

At this early stage, I would think sickness would be the main issue. I've been pregnant 3 times, but only once in the first trimester. I would make sure you bring some zofran or diclegis. Even if you weren't sick with your first, each pregnancy is different. Other than that, the only differencw for me was no rough rides and no alcohol! It's still fun!

Being sick is definitely my top concern. I was very sick with my last pregnancy, so maybe the "every pregnancy is different" thing will work in my favor this time around! I'll be going before my first appt, but maybe I can get an prescription early. That stuff was so helpful last go around!

Last trip I was 9 weeks pregnant with DD2 (and IVF so I had to give myself shots, fun). I had mild morning sickness (that lasted all day) so i brought lots of little healthy snack packs and ginger candies and stayed hydrated. two nights we hired a sitter so we could go out as grownups in the evening and it was so worth it. I googled a lot and decided I could go on the roller coasters. I didn't do the Rock and Roll coaster at HS, and no Mission Space, but did do all coasters at MK, which to me seem really tame. Baby was well cushioned and I decided it was a risk I was willing to take.

Well, luckily you're newly pregnant and hopefully you don't have any morning sickness so you won't have any physical ailments. I would just avoid riding the rides not for pregnant people and you should be fine.

I went 20 weeks pregnant in August. Whole other story. Miserable. But I think you should be ok. :)

You should be fine, other then morning sickness if you have it this time round (fingers crossed you won't). I agree with the ginger candies and if you are checking a suitcase I would pack some ginger ale and crackers to have with me.

As for rides I thing having the LO you will be fine with whatever they are doing! Have fun and congrats!

Aww! Congrats! Nothing like adding a little more stress/anxiety to those few pre-trip weeks! We're going in 22 days and I'll be 15ish weeks.

I would absolutely no doubt about it call your OB and see what they say about rides. I'm so glad the pp had no problems, but I've also read a lot about women who went early in their pregnancy and ended up moscarryinf due to going on the roller coasters.

Luckily you e got a little one with you so you'll probably be taking it slower anyway, but just listen to your body and take it easy. Rest when you feel tired and eat often to try to keep the nausea away!

You should be able to ride anything your little one can ride. I wouldn't do anything rougher than riding in a car down a dirt road, but just check with your doctor if you want to do thrill rides. Other than that and the off limits foods and drinks, there won't be much difference. Remember to stay hydrated and snack often to avoid nausea. And be glad you're going now and not at 8 months in late summer. That was awful.

One ride I thought was strange (and sad) when I was researching (but haven't talked to my OB yet) was the Safari ride at AK :(. Many many people said it was off limits and I guess there's a sign warning against riding it while pregnant? Apparently it's very bumpy? So sad - we love that ride!

I've ridden the Safari maybe 5 times while pregnant, all in different trimesters. I'm not saying that makes it ok for you, just my experience. I wouldn't do anything that causes you undue anxiety no matter what other people's experiences are. I will say that the front row is by far the mildest, the back row not so much.

Also, there's no way to know if a roller coaster is the cause of a miscarriage. What a guilt trip to put on someone going through the loss of a baby!

True - you can't for sure say it caused it. They just said they linked it. I'm no doctor ;).

We've struggled a lot and gone through some awful things on our way to this little one :( so I'm probably being overly cautious

I'd love to see the link between rides and early miscarriage. One in about five pregnancies end in miscarriage, mostly because it's not viable. Those signs are protecting WDW legally.

I'm just repeating what I read while doing a lot of research. I would LOVE to go on all these rides, and everyone is different. But for us it's better safe than sorry. Definitely do your own research, talk to your doctor about your situation and make decisions based on what's best for you :).

Yeah, I mean the baby is so tiny at that point and well protected that a ride may or may not make any difference AND due to the fact many women don't realize they're pregnant that early on and they ride all sorts of rides and bring home a healthy child 9 months later.

But, do what feels best for you, and take it easy and remember to hydrate.

Congratulations!

I left for Disney exactly one week after we found out we were expecting - right around 7-8 weeks. I wasn't sick, but during the trip I developed some serious meat aversions and I was exhausted the whole time. I didn't avoid all the rides, but I did avoid most rollercoasters (except the Barnstormer and 7DMT). We still had a wonderful trip, adding the excitement of telling our family that the first grandbaby would be arriving!
