Hi Gang

Our friends are heading to WDW for the first time at the end of January 2005 and staying at the CBR. Just curious what is the weather like at that time. Is it cold? Will they be able to go swimming? I've also heard that the pools are actually heated.

Just wondering...

We were at onsite (FW) last year at that time (Jan. 31-Feb.5) and we were able to wear shorts and short sleeves most days. Our first day was rainy - long pants and light jackets. One other day we wore shorts and jackets, but then it was a little breezy so we went back to the cabin at lunch and changed. By the time we got back we could have left the shorts on.
The kids swam one night at FW, but the water was too cold for me. They say they are heated, but it still felt cold.
HTH!

Yes the pools are heated, but that time of year is a crap shoot as far as temps go. We've been there when it's been a blamy 80 degrees one day and into the 50's the next. We have vacation photo's of 1998 wearing heavy winter coats, mittens and hats around Epcot during the first week of Feb!

As a former College Program lifeguard I can tell you that the pools at Disney are heated to 78 degrees year round. Of course in the summer they're much warmer than that!
Kids seem to like to swim in the pool regardless of the temperature outside, I'm sure that they'll have fun!

...travelled to WDW during Prez Week once, and it seemed like we hit it just right. The weather had just turned for the better and we had nothing but sunny skies and warm weather (just enough to enjoy the pools, but not quite that sweltering Fla heat!) I'm hoping that we are blessed with that same good weather THIS February.....

Before my daughter got into middle school we used to go to WDW every January. On one of our trips I couldn't get warm. It was really weird. Living in the mountains of NC when the temp gets into the 40s I'm comfortable with a sweater or light jacket. On this particular trip to WDW an arctic cold front moved through Orlando and dropped the high temp into the mid 40s. I had on a t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt and coat and couldn't get warm. On the flight back to NC I mentioned to the man next to me how cold it was and his explanation was there are so many lakes and so much water in the Orlando area that when an arctic cold front moves through and it is windy all that moisture in the air makes it really feel cold. Anyhow, if any question it might be chilly in Orlando in January or February take a jacket and sweater.

We have been to Disney World in January three times you never know what you are going to get. Once we were in winter coats and gloves, once we were in shorts and tshirts and other sweatshirts and jeans were fine. Bring something for every kind of weather.

The past two years we have gone the first week in Feb. and have had wonderful temps, high enough to go swimming and wear shorts. However right before we got there they had a cold snap. So I always pack clothes for both cold and warm weather!
