Day 6 Sunday 3/14

Cast-- same

Today we were off to the AK first and then we're supposed to hop on over to the MK. We haven't been to the AK in awhile. We seem to skip it more often than the other parks. So, DH, Ds and I were all really looking forward to going back.

Things were still tense and strained. I was wearing my "plastered smile" trying to pretend everything was A-Okay. I was not looking forward to the first face-to-face meeting w/ MIL since the previous evenings events. DS and I were in the van before she even appeared from her room. You could still cut this tension in the van w/ a knife-- I think she fed off this. She started chatting with DH like nothing was ever wrong.

Anyhow-- we get to AK, there's still 15 minutes to rope drop and it's already really, really crowded. As well as already heating up. With the narrow walkways here and the crowds I can feel disaster.

Once we were completely through the gates-- potty break. I know you can't always pick when you have to go. But what I don't understand is how it can take someone a full 15 minutes just to pee!!!! This was the norm, each time she had to go. While waiting for her, I'm trying to pretend everything is great w/ my plastered smile. DH is getting annoyed. Ds is antsy-- he wants on that safari (you know that place that the 500 people at the gate ran to).

We decide to hit ITTBAB first. It was walk-on. It was as great as I remembered it!!! Next we are making our way to the Safari. However, MIL wants pictures of each plant and animal we encounter. Which is great-- but enough is enough. You already have 5 different shots of that bird, can we please move on????

The safari had a 20 minute wait posted, closer to 30. I enjoy the safari. The animals weren't real active, but it's a nice ride anyhow. However, the entire ride MIL is complaining they are too bumpy, too fast (she was prewarned and rode at her own will), Then they didn't stop long enough for her to get the pics she wanted. Then the animals weren't at the right angles. If it wasn't on thing, it was definetly another!!! Enough already!!! I was grinning and bearing it. Now I have DS sulking on the other side of me. He was getting ready to enter the ride vehicle (he had his heart set on riding on the outside). She literally cut him off and squished past him. She needed a better seat for pictures was her claim. He wasn't a happy camper. I did rearrange him to the other outer seat. But the left is better (more animals to that side) and that's where he wanted.

After the safari, we were supposed to ride the train to the conservation station and affection section. There were large crowds congregated at the safari exit/train entrance. All just figuring out what they want to do. It was previously agreed upon that we were going to get in line for the train (which didn't have a line). DS and I are walking up it. I THOUGHT MIL and DH were behind me. When I last looked they were. Next thing I know, they're not there and I don't know where they went!! I start going back out of the train entrance. From as distance I can see DH and MIL-- they are clearly in the middle of a heated arguement. Before I can get there to see whats going on, I see MIL take off into the crowd practically taking out innocent victims w/ her ECV. I see DH running after her trying to grab the back of the EVC. Next thing I know-- I can tell they are exchanging more words-- I see a map get crumbled into nothing and her taking off like a bat out of he** again!!! Now DH spots us and is running his mouth off. He's had enough, he "hates disney", he's never coming back. (Side note--- for everyone there at that time. I'm sorry you had to witness his meltdown. Normally he's a pretty decent guy, and we normally feel nothing but magic at WDW). I still don't actually know whats going on. So I kind of steer him to an out of the way area. He tells me she basically is trying to cause problems. (AHHH--- he see's the light FINALLY!!!!). For some reason, and I still don't know she wasn't happy w/ getting on the train at the moment. He never did tell me the whole story. I can say that later as we left the park. She actually had the nerve to say she really wishes we could of seen the "petting zoo" part. A duh, that was where we were headed!!! It was one of the things I really wanted to do, and we never did, so I wanted to strangle her!!!

Anyhow, DH says we'll just go ahead and do what we want, basically she's on her own now. Well, I can see he's really miserable and that the afternoon would be ruined. As much as I really, really wanted to leave her in the dust. I tell DS and I will go one way-- he goes the other and we set a meeting place. Go there when you find her, or in 30 minutes whichever comes first. I also mention I'll grab snacks on my way back (because we're all getting alittle hungry). Well, I basically walked the park full circle, didn't find her. Got snacks and headed to the meeting place. There she is-- smoking happily (it was a smoking area). DH is there too. All of a sudden nothings wrong. WHAAAT?????

Turns out the most I could get from the story was she needed to use a bathroom and didn't want to take the train until she went. Ummm, I don't think so. There had to be more, but nobody was talking. DH just thanked me quietly for being patient, and that was it. This was really starting to get old. Now, we have wasted alittle over an hour. We need to regroup and start a new game plan. We decide to head over to Tarzan Rocks, then into Dinoland. MIL wants to catch the Lion King-- only thing is it means we have to miss the parade. The parade's are one of my most favorite things at each park. I bring it to DH's attention, and he put his foot down. We were gonna see the parade. What was that now-- MIL 20: Me 2 (well a win is a win!!)

Anyhow, we see Tarzan Rocks, I thought it was cute, but not a must see each time. We then go do Dinosaur. MIL is gonna wait in the shade and rest. It has a 20 minute wait time. We get all the way to the very front of the line. Very next to go in. Ride goes down. After waiting 15 more minutes, they say it's gonna be down for awhile, we need to leave. The people behind us asked if we could get FP's or something-- no dice. I'm not sure what I wanted Disney to do, but I didn't like waiting 45 minutes and then Nothing. Anyhow, if we hurried we could catch the Lion King afterall. I said HURRY. MIL needs to use the bathroom and take more pics. Didn't you just sit here for 45 minutes, you couldn't of done it then???

Anyhow, we make the FOTLK. Really great show, DS got picked to play the insturments in the little parade in the show. A highlight for him. Seeing him so happy to be picked made my day as well!! My only complaint. They seated us in the handicapped section. Only when you are the "family" and you're put on the bench. Some of the seats get another wheelchair in front of them. These benches aren't raised either. Once that wheelchair is in front of you, more than 50% of your line of vision is blocked. The EVC's and std wheelchairs sit higher than the benches , combined with an adult. A child sitting there would see nothing. I had this happen to me, and I didn't see much at all. Just something Disney needs to rethink.

Anyhow, we leave this and decide to go check the wait time for Kali. I'm beginning to feel alittle ragged as we've zig-zagged this park several times already. Anyhow, standby time is 90 minutes and there are no FP's left. We do the one jungle trek and decide to get seats for the parade. MIL decides to stop a CM and ask where the best place to sit would be. Uhmm, we already have a place picked out. So, when we go to where I picked she's pouting. She keeps telling DH the CM should know better than me. I'm biting my tongue!!!

After the parade-- we are off to the MK. They are open until 11pm tonight and we are looking forward to seeing Spectro, something we don't usually get since we usually go in off season.
