YAY! I just booked my first cruise - a 4-night next March. I'm so excited! We are creating our own land-and-sea week, with 2 days before and three days after the cruise at WDW. SO, this raises a question:

What is the best way to get from WDW to the port? The cruise line will charge $192 for my family of 4 (myself, DH and DSs 3 & 5). I think for that price we should just rent a car! I think I saw a car service for about $100 round trip.

Any suggestions from those who have been-there-done-that?
Thanks

I am much too lazy to drive while on vacation, so we always use Happy Limo. For a family of your size, a towncar/limo or rental car should definitely be cheaper. Happy Limo (and many of the others) also have coupons. Hubby and I used to take the DCL bus, but we got very spoiled with towncars.
For rental cars, I think that Dave has lots of info. on his website at www.dcltribute.com
The drive to the port is pretty straightforward, so you should have no problem if you go that route.

Hi...congrats on booking your cruise. I just came back from my second Wonder trip, and already have serious angst about having another reservation booked.

The first time we cruised, we took the Disney bus from Orlando. It was fun to enter the magical phase that much earlier, but expensive. The second time, we saved a bundle by renting an Avis car at the airport, driving ourselves to Port Canaveral, and returning it at the Avis outpost at the Radisson. There is a free shuttle from the Radisson to the port and back again (we rented a car again when we got off the cruise to get back to Orlando). The more people you have to transport, the cheaper the rental car option becomes, esp. since you can return the car and not have to pay for parking. We built our own "land/sea" trip with one night at the Magic Kingdom before the cruise, and two nights afterwards to ease out of the euphoria. The car was definitely the cheapest option.

Best of luck...looking forward to the trip is half the fun of it. Read all you can, it makes a difference to be prepared to make the most of things!
