Without a car, I'm trying to figure to most efficient way for 4 to get from Caribbean Beach Resort to SeaWorld. I've done a little research on the boards and am leaning towards a Mears cab. If I understand this correctly, it's cheaper to take the cab from Downtown Disney to SeaWorld than from our resort. I've gone to the Mears website and Downtown Disney isn't a choice but the Disney Institute is....is that Saratoga Springs? Also, where in Downtown Disney would we go? Near the bus stops? Do we have to book by telephone first? If my calculations are correct, it's only about $15.00 (plus tip) each way? Any information is appreciated....I'm in uncharted waters. :3dglasses

You have a couple of options but cost wise it also depends how many you are travelling with. You can call Mears the night before and they will give you the times of their pickups - they pickup once an hour. You give them your resort and they come the next morning for pick up in the front of the resort. Cost was $18pp (+tip if you want). When you want to leave, you all around 1-2 hours before to request pick up. Never had a problem. They usually send a van but there was a couple of times we had a coach bus - especially coming home.

2. You can call a cab. Some of the resorts have them outside waiting but you can always ask for the number and call. We did that a couple of times and I think it was about $30 each way.

3. There is also bus service from DTD. I read somewhere in previous posts what the bus number and cost was so maybe they can give the info again.

Good luck!

Spring for the extra few dollars and take the taxi from your resort.

It is true that Downtown Disney is closer to SeaWorld than Carribean Beach is - but not by much.

The bus ride to Downtown Disney (stopping off at Typhoon Lagoon) will take 20 minutes + 5 minutes walk to Downtown Disney taxi stand + wait for taxi if none at stand + (say) 20 - 40 minutes wait for your Disney bus- That's one hour less at Sea World to save yourself maybe $10 in cab fare. (2 hours less if you come back the same way)

Is that worth it?

When I went I used *********** transportation. They were on time and very friendly! I will use them again if needed and will def. recommend them since they were recommended to me by a co-worker.

Three options (for the most part)...
1. cab from your resort.
2. hire a car service, from your resort..will be about $60 r/t
3. Head to TTC, and take the Lynx bus..about $1.50 pp each way. The buses are clean and safe. It is Orlando's public transit though. You do have to tell the driver, when you board, that you want to get off at SW. The bus drops you right at the SW parking lot. When you're done for the day, exit the park, cross the parking lot and the street, turn left and the bus stop is right there..about 20' away. Takes about 25 mins.

Some people are hesitant to take the Lynx bus....if so, I would use a car service. You can book them ahead of time and they will run you about the same as a cab.

If you're going to use the Lynx bus make sure you know their schedule which is available on their website at http://www.golynx.com/. You want to know what time the buses leave and return, especially the latter, since you don't want to miss the last bus of the day. (Even if you did, worst case scenario is you take a taxi back to DTD.)

BTW, taxi stands at DTD are by World of Disney and across from the AMC Pleasure Island 24 theaters.
