Hi,
I have quite a few tickets for WDW since we go a few times a year. I'll be making one trip to Disneyland in a few months and remember hearing that you can present a multi-day WDW ticket at Disneyland for entry. Is this still going to be honored, or will it change because of the new Premier Pass? TIA for any info!

Just a guess, but I don't think the Premier Pass would change that policy.:)

This is fascinating. I didn't know this.

We are going to WDW this year and to Disneyland next year. Now that I know this, I am going to consider adding 3 days & and the no expiration option to our tickets for this year so we can use them next year at Disneyland.

For anyone who may not know...

If you add the Non-expire option to a WDW ticket, you must pay the Non-expire fee for the total number of days the ticket has ever contained.

Example:

Start with 7-day MYW ticket,
use 7 days at WDW parks,
add 3 more days to ticket (upgrades must be done within 2 weeks of the ticket's first use),
add Non-expiring to ticket.
Must pay for 10 days of Non-expiring on that ticket,
even though there are on 3 days "left" on that ticket.

Yes, we did this last August, I had 10 day non-expiring passes. All you have to do is present them at the turnstyle. They will take your tickets, verify their validity, take a day off them and give you a one day DL ticket. If you go multiple days you will have to do this each day. We were at the turnstyles just before 7AM (Magic Morning day) and we were about 7 deep in the line. We got into the park at 7:10 so the process doesn't take too long. We had hopper tickets and were given a DL hopper ticket.

This is fantastic news!! I am headed to WDW in Oct and Disneyland in January before my Mexican Riveria cruise on DCL. Hooray, I didn't know WDW tickets were honored at Disneyland !:cool1:

Adding no expire to an 8, 9, or 10 day MYW ticket just to go to disneyland is likely not going to be cost effective. Say you have a 7 day MYW ticket and you decide you'd like to add 3 days plus no-expire to use at disneyland. That will cost you about $232. Disneyland is always having promotions on its tickets for much less than that. For example, a 6-day park hopper advance purchase is $173 right now.

If you have a very short MYW ticket (but at least 4 day) and want to add no expire plus a day or two, I guess it might be worth it. For example, if you have a 4 day MYW and want to upgrade to a 7-day no expire, it would cost about $133 ($10 to add 3 days and $123 to add no expire to a 7-day). That just barely starts to be worth it.

If you would use the MYW ticket in the future both for disneyland and for WDW, it might start to be worth it. For example, in the first example above, if you have the water parks option, upgrading the ticket will give you a bunch of future admissions to water parks in addition to the disneyland entries.

Agreed, but if you already have non-expiring passes or plan to buy them for multiple trips then this is a nice cost effective use, especially if, like us, you're only were there one day.

This is exactly the same thing we did. One day trip before our MR cruise. FYI if your looking for transportation from LAX to DL try Karmel shuttle. We paid shared van price but they do not loop the airport to fill the van, we were the only ones on it so a nice quick trip to DL. If you stay onsite take advantage of Magic Morning (if your there Saturday) Coming from the east it is easy to get up early and you get so much done. We were at the park at 7:00Am and hit Peter Pan, Pinnochio, The Carousal, Mad Hatter, Alice, Astro Orbiter & Buzz before 8AM. Got a FP at Space mtn right at 8AM rode BTMRR, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise and got a FP for Indiana Jone and left the park at 9:15 to go back to the hotel before hitting California Adventure.

Good point -- yeah, disneyland works like WDW in that one or two day admissions are much more per day than 3-6 day hoppers. And, unlike MYW tickets, you can't get no-expiration on DL tickets. So for single-day entries at DL, purchasing no expire WDW tickets can be good.

For what it's worth, people on the disneyland boards have reported being able to hop between the parks at DL even if the WDW ticket they traded in was not a hopper. Not sure if that's just luck or occasional, though.

Wow, I hadn't seen that lark. Usually you're supposed to be able to hop at DLR if you have hopping on your WDW tickets, but no hopping if you don't have hopping. Hmm.

The process for using the tickets has to be done each day. It involves handing over your WDW tickets, they take them off somewhere, and come back with your WDW tickets and one day DLR tickets. So you won't get the Magic Morning option from a ticket, because you have to have 3+ day tickets to get that (though if you're staying onsite, you get the MMs from your "key to the magic" keycard), and it does take a bit of time each morning.

Other than the time, it sounds easy-peasey to do.

Hi Molly, the fact that I'm saying something about disneyland that you don't know is a pretty certain indication that I'm wrong. :0) I thought I'd read it, though. We were going to use an old WDW ticket at DL in January, but then they dropped the price on DL tickets so we just got one of those.

I think the people on the Disneyland board might be more familiar with the current exchange policy, so I've moved this thread to here. :)

I have a few WDW tickets from 2000 with a couple theme park tickets still on them. Can I use those at Disneyland?
If so, does the Water Park option get you anything too?

What about the Florida resident tickets they sell? COuld I use those at DL? We are hoping to go to Cali in July and hope to go to DL with our DD3. I grew up in S. Cal and would love to take her where I used to go::thumbsup2. Not sure if they are still offering the 4 days for 99 for FL residents here in FL but since we are planning on 2 days at DL that would be a huge savings

Hey, if you read something, what you read could very well be valid. Plus, CMs aren't infallible, and that person was super-lucky! :)
