I know you can't bring child car seats on the Disney bus system...so I guess I'll just have to hold my 18 month old.

But what about taking a taxi...do I need to bring his infant car seat with me? At home I would NEVER take him in a vehicle with no car seat.... but is it acceptable in taxis/buses?

I'm not sure what other people do....:confused3

Some states require a car seat in taxis. I'm not sure if Florida is one of them. I know that the limo services to/from the airport provide car seats on request. If you take a taxi you'll have to pack your own. Perhaps you will be happier renting a car from the airport and driving to the parks instead of using DME and the Disney bus system. If you purchase a seat on the plane for your 18 month old you can use your car seat on the plane too.

I am almost certain that the cabs we have taken had a car seat in the back that could be used.

Have you looked into the Disney shuttle bus from the airport?
There are no seat belts on Disney's Magical Express buses so the OP cannot install a car seat. I have the impression that s/he is nervous about riding a bus (DME or regular park bus) without a car seat.

I remember looking up the Florida law and you do need car seats for little ones in taxis. Even if the law did not require it it I would still bring a car seat. Anyway, we do for taxi rides, and at WDW you usually would call (or have the bell desk call) for a taxi anyway so no big deal with respect to planning when to bring the car seat. I have also heard that you can request taxis with a car seat. But the last time we took a private car service with a car seat I felt so icky using that car seat (not knowing when it was last washed) we have since decided to always use our own.
