I'm planning for my upcoming May trip and I'm trying to find something to do that will amuse my soon-to-be 4 year old who **loves** ponies. Besides the Carousel, are there any horse-related activities in WDW that she can participate in?

Thanks! :)

There are horse drawn carriage rides. Beware, though, that the horses can no longer be petted, just admired from a distance. However, the horse handlers are wonderful to talk to about the horses and their training and handling. One guy does all the training and has for several years. His name escapes me at the moment, sorry.

I've taken a carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside and a ride at Fort Wilderness. Call ahead of time and make reservations. It was $35/ride, but I thought it very worthwhile.

Yes, but the minimum age is 9, and they are not ponies, but full-sized horses. (Which is a good thing IMO, ponies are often dreadfully unpredictable.)

SSR is a horse racing-themed resort. There are horses in the lobby, a life-size horse sculpture, and they are opening a racetrack-themed pool. They also do stick horse races by the pool, and there are horse motifs in the rooms.

Unless they have stoped they also have pony rides at FW. Under age 8 or 80 lbs. They also have a fill your box of My little pony pieces at many gift shops and DTD.

Fort Wilderness has pony rides still as far as I know, we just did it! They are $5 I think, maybe $4. You can also walk through the stables there and see the other horses. My DS 4 enjoys that part of the trip!

If you have a car you can go see and pet (through the bars) the horses from Dolly's Dixie Stampede in the morning. They are very beautiful horses and very nice stables. My DD enjoyed doing this on our off day.

Also, if you plan any time at Sea World they have the stables where the Clydesdales live, and you can take pictures there with them. You are not allowed to touch them when they are in their individual stalls though, I don't think. The last time we were there there was a newborn (which was as big as a pony) out to pasture. They are absoulutely goreous.
