My DH is scheduled for the Richard Petty racing experience in 2 weeks(it's a surprise). The directions don't tell you how to get there if your staying on Disney property. I thought I read that you can walk over from the Poly or take the Monorail to the Transportation center and they have a shuttle van from there. Also, DS and I will head over the last hour of his experience so we can see him drive, is the walk from the Poly too long for an 8 y.o.?

Yes, just take the monorail to the TTC, then there is a shuttle near the dog kennel that takes you to the speedway - we did the ride-along for our anniversary a few years ago and had a blast!

There was a guy on our bus to the MK (I think) and he told the driver he was going to the Richard Petty and the driver drove him to the place and dropped him off then continued to the MK.

He probably dropped him off at the TTC beside the Speedway - you have to take a shuttle from there to get into the Speedway because you are driven through a tunnel under the track to get inside.

Surprised DH last year with the ride-a-long and he had a great time! Unfortunately, everyone who comes over has to watch the video we bought! You can walk over from the Poly, take the monorail or ferry from MK over to TTC and head over towards the kennels. The van is waiting there to take you over to the track. Have a great time!
